AKC Posted April 27, 2005 Author Posted April 27, 2005 I woudnt say that the heat only have one star.....Wade is a very good player..... I just dont think he will be good enough when Shaq starts to fade... It is a little difficult to justify my thinking right now.....I just feel that when the right players are put around kobe that he too will take his team to the playoffs.... 320318 Last offseason I told a buddy of mine who is a Staples regular and runs a Sports Bar with the Lakers being the big property that: The Lakers would not make the playoffs. The Heat would have the best record in the East. All based upon the fact that if you study W/L records the Lakers with ONLY Kobe have been stinking it up forever plus the observation that guys playing with Kobe virtually always suffer from dropped shoulders and slow feet due to his ball hogging and awful shot selection. He told me a month ago that he was beginning to see the same problems because he started watching the other players instead of Kobe and that while he at one time believed Kobe was "the best player in basketball" it was becoming very clear to him that Kobe did not inspire guys around him to play better like ALL the great players do. (BTW-he's a 42 year old from Chicago originally) Now I only have you to work on ;-)
#41 Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 All the more reason to get behind the Suns. The Shaq thing is always going to come back to injuries and his refusal to deal with them in the offseason. His last year in LA got off slow cause he put that toe surgery off until the season was right as his doorstep. Reminds me of how Barkely used to be with his "conditioning". No shocker his best season came after the 92 olympics, which he actually was active and didn't sit in the hot tub drinking beer watching everyone else work out. Count me in as someone that loves to see gravy-training Phil Jackson fail when he's not coaching supreme talent. I hope his INTERVIEW WITH KOBE goes well... He can always hook on with Cleveland or NY or Denver or LA or........ As far as coaches that are 'closers' are concerned, there's nobody better. As far as having a team that needs to rebuild....
Tcali Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 The first blessing of the Buss Meltdown, other than the virtual abscence of those awful Laker car flags that pop up only when they're winning, is that I haven't had to hear "Kobe's the best player in the NBA" even once this season from the fan base. He's been exposed- a great pure shooter who without a dominant player on the court with him brings the talent around him down because he simply will never learn adjust to the fact that the ball, like accolades, need to be distributed among all the players on the court. Jordan did both with genuineness; for Bryant they're tortured- not to mention infrequent- exercises. KTD- you could hit the Pick 6 at Santa Anita, buy the Lakers and win a championship as long as Jerry West was there to do the thinking. I don't for a minute believe West would have kicked O'Neal to the curb in favor of Alex English. 319899 I think Jerry West has amde a HUGE blunder in Memphis by going with Jason Williams...saw him in SAC---he is a loser.
John from Riverside Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 The link that people make from Kobe Bryant to Penny Hardaway will only last as long as lakers management inability to put players around Kobe. As far as Kobe not dishing the ball off to teamates.....he sure does have an awful lot of assists for someone who doesn't want to share the ball..... I think you are thinking of Tracy Magrady.......... I am waiting to see what the lakers do this offseason.....if they make the RIGHT moves they could bounce right back.....if they make the wrong ones then they will bounce off into oblivion....... The defense of this team must improve before any further improvements can be made......and hopefully the player (who will remain nameless but we both know who he is) who make the "Kobe GM" comment will be shipped off to another team for a case of beer as quickly as possible....... While listening to his comments about other players....you should listen to him try to justify his joke called defense.....I LOATH player to be named....oh fug it......CHUCKY ATKINS.....
#41 Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Ugh. Penny was too tough to take. Don't even want to get started on that. I almost ran outside and danced in the streets when the Suns got someone to take him, same with Googs. The same GM is now up for front office guy of the year cause he struck gold with Stodemire and Nash produced after the Mavs were shouting around that he didn't have too much tread left. I guess even some of the biggest slugs can have a nice jumper. Nothing better than a tumor shooting 20 - 30%. I found it hard to believe that were actually some other people taking more shots a game than Kobe whose name didn't start with Allen and end with Iverson.
