still looking tall ;)

I more meant the part of his hands being bigger than McDermott's head.

Not good. Slow off ball, a lot off sacks were coverage sacks

So if he had 3 sacks, you'd say he doesn't get to the qb enough. Get the qb to the ground.

That certainly wasn't my reaction to Shaq.   Or Ragland.

I will put it this way..........I am often seen as a skeptic of McBeane because I try to be objective about their decisions...........but 4 of the 5 first round picks they've made have been guys I wanted.........White(my #1 CB in that class), Edmunds(my #1 pass rusher in that class) and Allen(biggest upside QB) and now Rousseau(my #1 pass rusher in this class).

I preferred DK Metcalf over Ed Oliver.......and I'm still burnt about them passing a SECOND time on him........but in round one I knew the writing was on the wall that they needed a KW replacement and I felt he could be a 10 sack guy from the 3 tech in time so liked the player a lot.    Pass rusher is second only to QB in importance(which to my satisfaction Beane said himself last night).

In my 30 years of draftnik'ing the Bills almost never took the guy that I wanted.........there was no system or process, each draft was viewed as a separate event and the focus was too heavy toward immediate returns.........and they subsequently got diminishing returns in the 90's and then sucked in the 2000's.

Beane seems to understand what round 1 is all about.    His PC after the pick was music to my ears.......all the things I have been preaching for 15 years during the draft process.

I hope you're right.  But I don't recall you ever saying those guys were the guys you wanted/were #1 at their positions on your draft board or saying much about them prior to the drafts.

And unless I'm missing the context, why would anyone want/expect/need the 6'7" Roussseau to grow any taller?

Normally, the picks love end up being “meh”...and the picks I hate turn out to be “wow”...

Here’s to hoping that trend continues...😉🍻

My, my.  What got you all excited?   All I said was that you were badly understating the quality of Hughes and Addison.  But since you asked:

Epenesa is definitely not gone.  Hughes or Addison might be.  Or they might all stay.  They play four DEs, and they might carry five.  And there may be plans to play one or another at DT.   I don't know.

Beane drafts BPA; this wasn't a plan that they had.   They liked both of them, both guys were certainly the BPA on their board when they picked.   I'm sure Beane and McDermott talked today, before they made the pick and probably this afternoon when Beane was stufy possible scenarios.   Beane asked McD whether he would be okay if Basham was the pick, and McD said yes.   If you ask them tonight what they're going to do, they'll say they don't know, but they like competition and they'll figure it out.

There's just no reason to be all hot about it.  Bills D line underperformed last season, and Beane is going to do something about it.  What's not to like about that?

Both Players can play inside and outside. This what McBeanes craves to play "situational " football. They love the Dline rotations and man to man match ups each week.
I think you might see some of the lesser players push off the team. Like Johnson etc.
Competition is good.
"Cant have too many pass rushers"  Brandon Beane :)

You are a hater so you only remember things that I post that you perceive are negative.   You remember me not liking the Sammy Watkins trade,  but not that the only player from that draft class that I actually advocated drafting was Aaron Donald......who at the time was seen as a "meh" first round option by the board, with a lot of skeptics.     I actually started a thread,  which is rare,  got like 10 responses and that was it.   Wasn't seen as a "need".   Obviously, he turned out to be the best player in that draft.   If I had started a negative thread at that time it could go on for weeks.

His hands are are over 11". Might be the largest in the NFL or at least not many larger. The guy Miami took only has 9 3/4" hands despite being 6'6.

One of the knocks on Rousseau i have seen is that some of his sacks were coverage sacks and shoelace tackles. But I was thinking with those massive hands he might be a unique player in the NFL that gets a number of tackles and sacks with his hands. Those hands would be like bricks hitting a QB's feet.

Jalen Phillips looks like a WR/TE to me

LOL!  No I don't hate you.  You know your stuff, I'll give you that but you're not infallible.  Your arrogance is off-putting, but mostly it's amusing as I've dealt with worse.

If you've been right on all these, I will be sure to pay attention in the future.  And hope that Rousseau is as good as the other guys.

As someone mentioned before, with his height and hand size, he would be a great jump ball threat in the endzone.

I was thinking hail mary specialist on defense.  We all know The Bills need help w that lol

Maybin?  He in almost no way resembles Maybin.

Picked up as an edge rusher, short window of college productivity, drafted on potential, 1 good college year, etc.

I'd say that's all you need. Looking back at Maybin's pre-draft breakdowns, he was highly touted and positively discussed quite often. Only the limited time with high production was brought up often.
