Logic Posted April 29, 2021 Posted April 29, 2021 Wild. I'd have to seriously consider accepting this trade if I were the Packers -- depending on what else was included in the package, I suppose.
SCBills Posted April 29, 2021 Posted April 29, 2021 49ers plan for the draft: Trade up to 3 + ??? = Profit? 1 9 1
BuffaloRebound Posted April 29, 2021 Posted April 29, 2021 Seems like case of 49ers trying to troll the Packers and their lack of a plan.

If it's true and the Packers said no, it makes one of the worst picks in history in Love even worse. What the heck is their plan with him? I guess best case for the Packers is rodgers gets hurt and has to miss a few games, love lights it up, and they can trade him for a first round pick. What a stupid franchise. I hear ya, but it was first reported by Paul Allen, a radio host for KFan 1003 in Minnesota and the play-by-play guy for the Vikings. Not entirely accurate to say he's "pretty random", imo. But as always, with rumors like this, take with a grain of salt. Edited April 29, 2021 by Logic 1

It may be tempting at first, but when the initial shock clears your head you have to keep Rodgers. The one thing I'd never trade if I were an NFL GM is a known franchise QB. Teams spend decades trying to find one. 1 2
Bobby Hooks Posted April 29, 2021 Posted April 29, 2021 Almost seems to me they made that trade to 3 too quickly. Once they got there didn’t really love the options left with Wilson almost being a sure thing to the Jets. Eesch... makes the trade even worse that they’re obviously not in love with anyone in particular.
Brennan Huff Posted April 29, 2021 Posted April 29, 2021 The Packers should have jumped on it. Then trade the pick to a QB needy team. They drafted Jordan Love last year so obviously they’ve already started the post Rodgers plan. 3
CNY315 Posted April 29, 2021 Posted April 29, 2021 Bad deal for the Packers considering Jimmy G. may not even be alive Sunday 1 14 2

Seems like they really don’t want him on the roster... 1 1
Don Dokken Posted April 29, 2021 Posted April 29, 2021 (edited) What a fascinating trade. I would have taken this if I were the Pack. They theoretically already have their QB of the future, let him out of the garage. Trade down a little from 3 to a team that wants a QB, collect picks and stay in position to draft an offensive weapon. Enjoy the cap room. Flip Jimmy G for a mid-round pick. If there’s other roster players coming, sure, whatever. Rodgers gets to go try to win a title for his favorite team, Niners can stay in their title window without having to wait for a rookie. They're not exactly in a happy marriage at the moment. If the 49ers were offering, say, the 3rd overall pick, next year's 1st and other picks, Garrapolo, and another player or two of worth from their roster... I'm just saying it would be worth at least taking a moment's pause to consider. Yes, it would hurt them in the next 1-3 years, but it could also potentially set their team up for long term success. You should probably google brett favre and aaron rodgers
Justin C Posted April 29, 2021 Posted April 29, 2021 Who do the Packers take at 3 at that trade? If you are getting Jimmy G and have Love a QB makes no sense? I guess you either draft Pitts or trade down and get more picks.

Or are you trying to help make mine? They had two of the best QBs in NFL history over a 30 year span. One who is probably top 5. And they have two Superbowls to show for it.

DrDawkinstein Posted April 29, 2021 Posted April 29, 2021 I imagine that during the offseason, and especially in the lead up to the draft, there are all sorts of wild offers made between various teams. Lot of it is just testing the waters, starting conversations that lead to other/real topics, and seeing "what if".
