That combined with limited game tape on many of them combined with a lack of Combine and face-to-face might make for a true wheelin and dealin Brandon Beane. Basically... this also likely means that there's going to be LOTS of depth in next year's draft and 7th round picks next year willl likely be better than 7th round picks in other years. I attached a video below making the argument for essentially trading ALL of this year's draft picks (or our 1st this year and next year along with a couple 2nds, 3rds, or 4ths) in order to trade ALL THE WAY UP to #4 for Kyle Pitts. Would that be wise or is it even close to what Beane is thinking? Probably not. But with the recent report about us wanting to leapfrog the Jags and Jets for Etienne, maybe Beane is legitimately eyeballing Micah Parsons or Jaycee Horn in the teens. Or who knows.... why not swing for the fences to get Pitts? No

TBBills Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 I been saying Beane is good ng to move up either in the first or higher in the second.
Bill Murray Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 ...wouldn't this mean we should be trading DOWN to stockpile as many mid round picks next year as possible given the depth of talent in 2022? 3 1

Raw rookies or this year's draft choices that have been coached for a year? They are going to pay Allen and Edmunds. They'll need cheaper labor for cap purposes. The Bills linemen on both sides of the ball just were not good enough to get them to the top of the mountain. I think giving up draft capital would be a huge mistake long term and 1 rookie player is not likely to make much of a difference this year. Hard no for me on giving up much of anything to move up. BuffaloBillsGospel Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 Pissing away our future assets for a TE would be the old Bills way, I'd like to think we've learned from our past mistakes. This is around the spot where we found Tre White. At this spot it looks like a CB/RB/Pass Rusher/ OL will be BPA when we pick. No need to waste future picks for a TE who may or may not pan out, if we're going to trade this and next years 1st I'd rather get a young stud pass rusher (like the Chiefs/Ravens Deal).

In fact the moment we did it I was SUPER STOKED!!! We just traded up and drafted the wrong player... we should have drafted Khalil Mack. Woulda, coulda. I just thinkyou are pawning the future on one guy. Too rich for my blood. We need some inexpensive replacements soon for a lot of this roster. Edited April 27, 2021 by Green Lightning
Governor Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 Carolina’s pick at 8 is as far as we could go unless ATL will trade out. Who would be the best player available at 8?
Mike in Horseheads Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 The flaw in the OP's post is that not only the 7th rd will have more depth so will all the 3rd day rounds

We have a lot of young cheap depth that's going to age out in the next 1-2 years that's going to need to be replaced. It takes cheap draft picks to do that. Yes, I'd like to win, but I don't want to become this top-heavy have/have-not club either. That's the quickest path back to 6 win purgatory There’s certainly a balance, but I think we need to become a little more top-heavy, even if it’s to the detriment of depth. We have a lot of solid-very good players, but where KC has Mahomes/Hill/Kelce, we have Allen/Diggs and where KC has Jones/Clark/Mathieu, we have White. If they see a guy that gets us closer to matching up with their star power, I’d say go get him. 1
ALLEN1QB Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 I think we should trade Josh Allen and have Trubisky as our quarterback....just saying
Freddie's Dead Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 No, it's a better year to trade down if your guy isn't there.

How many impact players do you think we need this year in order to be Super Bowl conten... oh wait... we're already Super Bowl contenders... so what positions were really holding us back last year in the AFC Championship game? We didn't lose anyone in the offseason (even swap at worst in terms of Brown for Sanders). What's the fear? If you KNOW a player is going to be an impact player for you, this would be the year to go up and get him. Yes I think 4 would generally be too much, too... but honestly I'd be damn excited if we do it. Realistically I think Beane should go into the low 20s or teens if he's eyeing a specific player like Etienne, Parsons, Horn, Samuel Jr., etc. One player I'm kinda wondering about in terms of Beane targeting potentially is Davonta Smith if he starts to fall. Seems like he'd be the Isaiah McKenzie cog of the offense moving forward... and Daboll seemed to love using McKenzie. There are quite a few legitimate super bowl contenders. We probably won't win a super bowl with this defense. Need more consistent pass rush and linebacker play along with another CB. We weren't competitive against KC and TB destroyed the Chiefs. We need defense, we can win with our current offense.

In fact I wrote about him almost a year ago over on Drafttek. https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Draft-Scouting-Reports/Scouting-Report-Kyle-Pitts.asp But the cost to go up from 30 all the way to 4 to get him is going to be astronomical including multiple years of 1st rounds picks. It took the Niners 3 firsts to go from 12 to 3 I can't imagine the cost to go from 30 to 4. This ☝️ 3 firsts to go from 12 to 3 shows just how unrealistic it is for the Bills to go up high enough to land Pitts. I’m not convinced you need to go up that high for Pitts as I don’t see Atlanta taking Pitts at all at 4, but it’s gonna need to likely need to be a top 10 pick to land him still and that’s still going to be an immense price to pay from 30. I am all good trading you, but also don’t want to mortgage our future either by giving up multiple firsts we are going to need to keep restocking talent once we have paid Josh Allen. 1
Bob in STL Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 We are not one offensive player away from winning the AFC. We could be two defensive players away. Draft DL and CB as early as feasible. 1 1
Mc1320 Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 This is a totally ridiculous scenario. If you add our picks to another team’s picks, you are looking at 12-16 picks in a single season and based on your existing contracts, half of these picks would not even make your 53 roster coming out of training camp.
Governor Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 The value chart says that each Pro Bowl is worth 13 picks, so if we trade Edmunds, that could get us to 4 to nab Pitts. I’ll show myself out.... 2
YattaOkasan Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 Didn’t catch all of the thread but to the OP. Don’t trade up round one when there are so few players in the class. The part of the draft that gets most affected is the quality at the end of the draft. The top 100 is still comparable to most other years (because the money is still as good). Trading down at 30 gives you less top 100. Would love to move back up to the 4th from these later rounds to avoid the lack of good players at the bottom of the draft.

Buffalo would need to go up an additional 5 slots so I'd guess it'd be something more like a 1st, 3rd and 4th next year along with a 1st, 2nd and 4th this year. It's a lot... but Atlanta won in that trade because they got a Superstar Stud HOF worthy WR. That they won that trade is questionable. They lost a ton of picks in 2011 and 2012. In 2011 they went 10-6. In 2012 they went 13-3. The next year the lack of those players started to hit, and Julio didn't stop them from going 4-12, 6-10 and 8-8 the next three years. The bottom completely dropped out of their defense. And a lot of that came from the lack of those picks. Edited April 27, 2021 by Thurman#1

Drug addiction happens. Marshawn Lynch - type problems happen. You try to maximize the odds. And the best way to do that is to keep your picks and bring in a bunch of different guys. Remember when Whaley knew Sammy Watkins was going to be an impact player for him?
