Atlanta is taking trade calls on superstar wide receiver Julio Jones, according to the MMQB and later confirmed by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The MMQB reported that the Falcons would be looking for a first-round pick if they were to move their future Hall of Famer.

He doesn't fit under the cap and isn't a team fit here.  3yr 38m left on base salary is a bargain for taking a chance on a really good WR.  He's older, and missed time last year with injuries, but you can get out of most of the money (so the risk isnt that high) and he's coming off a 6 year run as one of the best WRs in football.

6 years as one of the best receivers in football HISTORY, and he was quite good in the 9 games he played last year (his only significant injury year). Still, he's never going to come to the Bills for about 25 obvious reasons. Jacksonville, though? If you're Jax, are you spending that second first on Etienne or Julio Jones knowing you have a ton of cap space to easily manage his salary? I'd take Jones in an instant.

Haha - it just takes one person to want to pay the price...

I've been thinking the Falcons really want to trade down, with Kyle Pitts as the backup plan if nobody gives them a good enough deal.

If you really think about it, Pitts is really the only player to make sense (unless they are looking to trade Julio Jones).

- In March, they restructured Matt Ryan's contract to give themselves more cap space.  But in doing so, they basically made it impossible to cut/trade him until 2023.  If they are considering a QB at #4, it was beyond stupid to commit themselves to Ryan for another two years.

- With Jake Matthews (LT) and Kaleb McGary (RT), they have a lot invested at Offensive Tackle already.  Hard to see them going for a player like Penei Sewell or Rashawn Slater in the Top 10, just so they can push someone inside to Guard.

- This draft really doesn't have defensive players worthy of a Top 5 pick.  They could probably trade down and land one of the top Cornerbacks, Edge Rushers or Linebackers.

- I also figured Wide Receiver was a long-shot, since they already have Jones and Calvin Ridley.  If they are looking at the market for Jones, that tells me they are possibly considering Ja'Marr Chase at #4.

I could see them taking Chase as remember when they took Julio they had Roddy White at the time and he was a top end WR. Yet personally I want them or the Bengals to take Pitts so Miami doesn't get him.

1st rounder for a 33 year old WR making $15m this year?   Good luck with that.

Give us him and your first rounder and then we have a deal

Atlanta will settle for a 2nd in a heartbeat.  Still wouldn't do it if I was Beane.

Falcons should be in tank mode if they could dump Julio Jones and Grady Jarrett.

Force Matt Ryan and Jake Matthews's hand for 2022.

Those 2 count $72M in cap in 2022 after all of their "restructuring".

They were fools.

Two years too late for the Falcons as well.

If they ever wanted to trade him, yes.

For 6 seasons 2014 to 2019 every year Julio Jones had was as good or better than even the season Diggs had last year.........and better than ANY season a Bills WR had before that.    And even last year his stats projected over 16 games were going to be massive.

If they are seriously considering drafting Pitts at #4 and keeping their 36 year old QB they should be trying to outscore teams next year not hoping against logic that Pitts can just replace a guy in Jones who averages 15.2 yards per reception for his career.   But they are the Falcons.

Falcons should be happy to get a couple 3 rounders for Julio at this point. Jones has often played hurt and I fear that as he has aged the injuries have become more severe. If the Falcons had held onto win the Super Bowl, that catch Jones made in the third quarter would go down as one of the best catches in SB history.

What are you talking about?  Diggs' season last year was better than half of Jones' seasons during that timespan.

They would be fools to do that.  Trade out of the 4th for a 2022 #1 and go into tank mode.

Their roster and money is a mess.

Jones is a big play receiver averaging 15 yards per catch over that span and Diggs was a high volume receiver who put up 12 yards per reception last year.

Not trying to disparage Diggs but none of Jones' seasons were lesser than what Diggs did last year.     Jones is a first ballot HOF'er, top 15 ever kinda' WR who averages 1300 yards per year. Over his first 5 seasons Diggs averaged about 900.......he is going to have to string together 4-5 more years like last year to get in that big of a conversation.

No thanks.....no need whatsoever....we are good at WR......guy is at the tail end of his career.....

Yards per reception means little.  Production is the key.  Diggs out-produced him in 3 of those 6 years.

And the point wasn't to compare their HOF credentials.  I agree Diggs has to put together several more years at his current pace.  But Jones is getting out of his prime years whereas Diggs is just entering his.  And Julio wasn't available for trade at the same point in his career.

And do we even need another downfield WR?  Would his presence mean less reps for G. Davis?

Not worth it.

Julio Jones taking snaps away from Gabe Davis isn’t worth it?

A HOFer who averages 97 ypg for his career isn’t worth it over a 4th Rounder?

You have it backward.    Bulk catch stats mean little.   Yards per play are more important to team success.   Again, not to take away from Diggs but if a receiver can put up just 90 less yards on like 40 less catches.......that's a win because the very best offenses average 6 yards per play or more.

The Bills were one of the very best offenses last season.  Meanwhile the Falcons didn't have a winning record and missed the playoffs 4 out of those 6 years.  A difference of 3 yards a catch is meaningless.
