So why isn't Tampa resigning him? He can still be effective in certain situations.

Who knows?     They are stacked with receivers.

"Good luck trying to block the right people now!" Brady posted on his Instagram story, with an image of the new numbers permitted. "Going to make for a lot of bad football!"

WTF is he talking about? I had no idea only certain numbers could rush the QB. What a whiny little B****!

I think the oncoming pass rush should have to loudly count to 'five Mississippi' before engaging Brady's O line.

All jerseys henceforth shall have no numerals, but a large 'GOAT' may be applied to the front and back of Mr. Brady's.

No, not this ⬇️ goat.

I'm not a huge supporter of the expanded numbers. Its fine, but I personally liked the "professionalism" of the number limits in the NFL. JMO

But for Brady to complain about this when his offense in NE had a game where Edelman was ineligible on the line so the tackle was eligible and could catch passes to confuse the defense, seems like some sour grapes

I don't like the rule from a consumer standpoint. Nike jerseys are too expensive to be making so many outdated so quickly.

Case in point, DeAndre Hopkins is teasing a switch from #10 to #6. And I'd bet a million Cardinals fans bought DeAndre Hopkins new jersey for $120 under a year ago. Hell, there's probably more than a few that randomly bought one within the past couple months.

Glad we traded for this guy...

Brady isn’t wrong. There is a reason they had rules for the numbers. Great comments by Brady, even though I can’t stand that guy I respect him as a football player.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Tom Brady blasts 'dumb' new NFL uniform number rule

TAMPA, Fla. -- While several NFL players expressed excitement this week over a newly adopted rule that allows more flexibility when it comes to the numbers worn on players' jerseys, Tampa Bay Buccaneersquarterback Tom Brady is not at all a fan.

Brady took to Instagram on Thursday to express his dissatisfaction with the rule change, believing it will cause safety issues for the offense, such as identifying blitzers or who's the middle linebacker of the defense.

Good luck trying to block the right people now!" Brady posted on his Instagram story, with an image of the new numbers permitted. "Going to make for a lot of bad football!"

Brady then posted a screen capture of a story about the rule and directed it to the NFL and NFL Players Association, with the words "DUMB" and "Why not let the Lineman wear whatever they want too? Why have numbers? Just have colored jerseys...why not wear the same number?...DUMB."

The NFL's new rule, adopted Wednesday with a number of other proposals, allows quarterbacks, punters and place-kickers to wear numbers 1-19, defensive backs 1-49, and then running backs, tight ends and wide receivers 1-49 and 80-89. Offensive linemen can wear 50-79, defensive linemen 50-79 and 90-99, and linebackers 1-59 and 90-99.

Sorry, but I have to agree with Brady (for once.) This is just a stupid money grab by the NFL. The game has changed in so many ways for worst over the past 15 years. It's no where near the sport it used to be, but with that being said I still love it to death.

I agree with a bunch of this, but I don’t blame the NFL - the players in KC complained and that caused the staff to put in the request.

This is 100% on a few stupid players that want to go back to their college days.

Which ones? Not that it’s possible to hate KC much more than I already do.

I feel dirty agreeing with Brady but I liked having the numbers mean something.

I don't get this. Why are so many against this? It's just changing your number. Do colleges have trouble blocking the right people?

Yes...and it's at the top of his head. Whether or not anybody thinks the rule change is bad is irrelevant. Brady will not elicit much empathy from anybody. He's an infamous whiner and has been involved in numerous cheating scandals during his career and is used to getting his way. I know it is hard for him to fathom but the league will survive without him or his opinions once he's gone. He's entering his 22nd year in the league and, if he can't handle this rule change or is afraid that his teammates can't, maybe it's time for him to finally hang them up. He's walking around with the 'GOAT' moniker...deal and STFU, Brady.

Empathy has got nothing to do with it.

He's simply trying to point out a bad rule change.
