Yes, some (like Kiper) had him #1...even the best in years...others said he was inaccurate and accuracy can't be taught and was a waste of a pick in the early rounds...polar opposite opinions. He really could not be polarizing unless some thought he was the best prospect. I mean if you throw out all the people that said “we got the wrong Josh”, or “you can’t coach accuracy”, or whatever (I was part of that crowd), then yeah, everybody was totally on the same page...

He really could not be polarizing unless some thought he was the best prospect. The consensus was that he was not a huge “risk” of a pick. He went where many picked him to go. He was the best available QB (at the least). McD certainly wasn’t worried—he agreed with the majority. Almost every 1st round QB pick has opposing draft and scouting opinions about him. Mayfield was therefore more “polarizing” than Allen by this definition.

I'm not sold on "The Best Front Office" yet. We're fans of the team so it's easy to get excited about re-signing our own guys, but lets face it: 2019 Draft: 1st: Ed Oliver 2nd: Cody Ford (traded up) 3rd: Devin Singletary 3rd : Dawson Knox (traded up) 5th: Vosean Joseph 6th: Jaquan Johnson 7th: Darryl Johnson 7th: Tommy Sweeney 2018 Draft: 1st: Josh Allen - INCREDIBLE PICK. 1st: Tremaine Edmunds (traded way up) 3rd: Harrison Phillips 4th: Taron Johnson 5th: Siran Neal 5th: Wyatt Teller (Great player, but traded away) 6th: Ray-Ray McLoud 7th: Austin Proehl There really is no better team in the entire league at drafting talent, developing it, and retaining it? I'm sure there is at least 1 team out there that did a better job. Gotta include the 2020 draft as well cause the trade of that 1st round pick for a certain player everyone said we gave up to much for... kinda wound up being the best receiver in football Edited April 14, 2021 by 78thealltimegreat
