do you believe a more qualified/less risky choice was available for the job?  what made him the pick other than an expectation of blind loyalty?

I don’t. His foreign policy was terrible. Way too many concessions for Israel, waffling back and forth on Ukraine, botching the Nippon Steel deal, etc.

I don't know, but the concept of hiring a "more qualified" individual was demolished/vaporized during the whomever was running the Biden Admin.
