Mia Love: My Living Wish for the America I Know

My dear friends, fellow Americans and Utahns. I am taking up my pen, not to say goodbye but to say thank you and express my living wish for you and the America I know.

My battle with brain cancer is coming to an end. The disease is no longer responding to treatment and my family and I have shifted our focus from treatments, to enjoying every moment and making memories with the time we have. My life has been extended by exceptional medical care, science and extraordinary professionals who have become dear friends. My extra season of life has also been the result of the faith and prayers of countless friends, known and unknown. The result of such humble faith and pleading prayers have been felt by me and my family in ways too numerous to count. I have always believed that faith and science are inextricably interconnected.

As a mayor, member of congress and media commentator I have seen the worst of petty politics, divisive rhetoric and disappointing lapses of moral character by some. These same roles also provided me a front row seat and backstage pass to be blessed and inspired by the courage, vision and hope of America’s finest daughters, sons and citizens.

Couching this column as a “dying wish” felt a little dramatic, even for a drama person like me. We are not certain how long this season of my battle will be and I do want to share, and reshare, some things with the world that I passionately believe. I write all of this as my “living wish” and hopefully “enduring wish” for you.

God bless this lovely, loving woman, and please grant her freedom from her pain.

May the good Lord hold her and her family close, in the palm of His hand.

Why would they bother buying something else when they want to live on what ostensibly was yours?

You've said numerous times that they should be able to live wherever they want.  If they want to live where you live, why stop them from their God given right to do so?  You've certainly got the room for them.

You’re being purposefully obtuse. While it’s amusing, it shows a fundamental lack of logic and reasoning. You’re dismissed.

I’m sure he’s itching to do just that.

The Era Of Presuming Liberal Moral Superiority Is Over

by Mark Hemingway

Kids have figured out that America’s failing liberal institutions have left them surrounded by a harmful cultural and political order that can’t justify itself.

FTA:

In other words, it’s safe to assume Seder is defending the dominant liberal order imposing its values on everyone because it’s what he knows and what he prefers, not because he can articulate why it’s justifiably “moral.” Nor is our current liberal order necessarily a matter of consent or democracy. This is pretty evident in the left’s approach to social issues. Gay marriage flailed in nearly every referendum it faced, and only became legal after the Supreme Court made it legal by decree, using a decision that has all the defensible legal and moral rubric one would expect to find on the back of a cereal box. And when a more conservative Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, the left screamed in unison they actually preferred it when nine unelected judges conjured up a new right to murder children in the womb that half the country found morally abhorrent, rather than letting such a controversial issue be decided by be democratic means.

And when liberals couldn’t exercise raw power to get their way in courtrooms and legislative chambers, they leveraged the economic might of corporate America to enforce their agenda. Despite the fact BLM was a scam literally run by communists who explicitly stated the nuclear family was an obstacle to “social justice,” corporations were alternately bullied and praised into giving BLM and related causes $83 billion even as the movement burned cities to the ground.

The problem is that you can only arbitrarily impose values on people from the top down for so long before there’s political and cultural backlash. Interestingly, in an interview with Seder, he said that he did the debate because his 19-year-old daughter told him “Surrounded” was popular with kids her age. Seder is almost certainly aware that there’s increasing amounts of data showing Gen Z shifting rightward, and this is especially true of young men — between the presidential elections in 2020 and 2024, there was a shocking 29 percent move right in men aged 18-29.

Actually it's more the "the solution to immigration is to duct tape criminals to chairs and shoot them in the back of the head" aspect of the post.

Not really.

So if his actions were self-defense, as he successfully argued, then why would someone fighting back against illegal ICE deportations be considered murder?

I guess if it were illegal deportations I could see fighting back. Do you consider deporting immigrants here illegally as an illegal action itself?

Question...

Is it called Politics in Russia? Or is it called descent?

How close is the US from making this conversion to the new truth?

How do you know they’re illegal until you give them due process?
