Showing your age. If, in your internet playtime, you happen to come across Jim Halpert smirking in front of a couple signs, it’s not real. 2 1

sherpa Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Heard this today, from the guy who started and runs "Folds of Honor," which provides folded flags to families of US military people killed in action, but even more important, provides tens of millions of dollars in scholarship money for their dependents. NFL and Anheuser Busch, among others are partners. He stated that 77% of the demographic from 18-26 years olds, is not qualified to serve in any service. Of the remaining 23%, only 10% is at all interested in military service. This is not good and does not argue for success in the next conflict.

I will also note that we have - and will have to even a greater degree - the same problem with the federal civil service. To me that's the most troubling thing about the attacks on the federal employee. What young person in their right mind would consider federal service a good option now? And before people jump in and say "good," think about the career path. When I was with the federal government a lot of the people I worked with were veterans. There's a career path there, particularly in law enforcement agencies. Vets get a preference, as they should. Why sign up for the military when a lot of those benefits start disappearing?

Joe Ferguson forever Posted February 26 Posted February 26 This really deserves it's own thread but https://finance.yahoo.com/news/gop-faces-unforgiving-math-after-keeping-tax-cut-plan-alive-151932402.html trump's tax cut plan adds at least 3 trillion to the deficit. DOGE comes no where near covering it.
