It is the question if it is worth the cost of the coin and cost to businesses to deal with them. If you disagree that is fine but to pretend it is revolutionary tell how hl behind the times you are. I guess you didn’t read it. It costs much more tomake a nickel which will Ned to be made in much larger quantities. The net result will be a significant increase in costs. Nothing to do with being up to date. What college course taught this? Seems most appropriate for a high school civics class. 22 minutes ago, Orlando Buffalo said: You are actually more bothered by the "bad word" than the fact you were wrong? Tells us a lot. What college course taught this? Seems most appropriate for a high school civics class. It was being discussed by someone in the Clinton administration, it was not in any class. It came up amongst my friends when we trying to be intellectuals at 2 in the morning most likely. As for the Nickels I don't particularly care which way the government goes, but the concept is not new. The fact is we could easily change the coin that is worth 5 cents, so there is no reason it costs so much. Truly making any coin that cost more than it's "value" is insane, so each president since at least Reagan is responsible for this stupidity.
Niagara Bill Posted February 11 Posted February 11 So here we go, tariffs on everyone (another broken promise) to be put on steel, aluminum because Canada has been taking advantage of us for many years, we have subsidized them with billions. If all that is true, why not just stop buying the steel and aluminum. Why punish your own industry who uses steel and your people who buy the product, and the other countries who buy the product made. Oh yes, to put money in the government pockets, the very government who your supports want to reduce and get rid of. Is there one thing in trumps life he does that is not about money or retribution. 1

No there isn’t. he’s a petulant child as are those who support him. Retribution is the thing. Exactly zero of his actions so far will have a positive effect on inflation. This will definitely increase costs for many items. So much for helping the working class. Edited February 11 by Joe Ferguson forever 1
Joe Ferguson forever Posted February 11 Posted February 11 (edited) https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/trump-s-accusations-against-south-africa-spark-white-privilege-self-mockery/ar-AA1yOvbb This would be funny if not so blatantly racist. "USA, USA, USA!" comedian Bouwer Bosch chants in a TikTok video as he tells a friend he is moving to the United States. "Why did you get refugee status?" the friend asks. "Cause I'm white, bro!" he responds, before adding that he will be back to his South African beach house in the summer, to attend a golf tournament and go to AfrikaBurn - South Africa's answer to the Burning Man festival. In an Instagram video titled "A day in the life of an oppressed white South African", a woman lies yawning in bed. "My husband brought me an iced coffee today because the most oppressive thing about this country is actually the sun," she says. Edited February 11 by Joe Ferguson forever

Niagara Bill Posted February 11 Posted February 11 I suggest that the World Cup be cancelled in the US next year to help trump save money. America MAGA members don't like football (soccer) in any regards and what a victory that would be. By next summer the rest of the world won't want to travel to this country. That puts trump in Putins camp, exactly where he is heading. The next Olympics may be sans America then Putin and trump can arrange their own. 1

That’s my only comment. 2

And she absolutely, at present, is the Dems' most viable candidate for 2028, if the last poll was to be believed. As for the Dem party, it isn't a messaging issue: it's a terrible policy issue. The problem for your party is that the young people are driving it and the old people are going along with it. 1 1

Well, an ally in Denmark is being attacked, not approached to give up Greenland, allies arojnd the world are being unreasonably economically attacked with unjustified tariffs, an ally are being economically attacked to become 51 state, open threats have been given to an ally that strong steps will be taken, maybe military if you fight back, US is now questioning the validity of a treaty signed in 1908. When Russia did this, and they did with Ukraine, what happened. Isolationism has its price.

It’s way too soon since the election, and respondents are going to have Harris in mind. I wouldn’t seriously look at polling until next year. No, the problem with the Dems is that the old guard of Pelosi, Schumer, etc are absolutely driving it. They have no idea how to message against MAGA populism. They should be POURING statements out about Trump’s unconstitutional cuts to USAID and other agencies, hauling Elon in front of Congress, and demanding transparency, but the best they can do is scrape up a committees.

Who else do they got? But true, we'll see if anyone emerges because the current crop has no chance. No, the old guard sold their souls to get the far left on-board. Clyburn demanded a (progressive) woman of color be the VP in order to endorse Biden. The Dems' problems aren't going to be solved by getting rid of the old guard and will only get worse as the new guard starts to take over completely.
