Probably a dumb question, but if Elizabeth is the Queen and Phillip was her husband, why was he a prince and not a King?

"The reason comes from a quirk of British parliamentary law that decrees that a man married to a reigning queen is referred to as a “prince consort” rather than king. In British royalty, the only way to become king is to inherit the title."

Buckingham Palace said: "It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

"His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle."

i’d rather mourn DMX than some relic of medieval royalty.
