One of the more popular rappers when I was growing up.

 

He has battled drug addiction for years.

 

 

 

Horribly sad to hear. The drug abuse and heart attack may explain why a 50 year old is in such a condition. Regardless, much too soon.

Watched a very good docu-series about DMX and the Ruff Ryders era about a year ago.  DMX came across very humble during it and straight up admitted he was not prepared for everything that came with the fame after he blew up overnight.

It's always going to be tough for me to overlook some of those incidents, particularly the ones regarding animal abuse. It's very clear that he's had addiction problems for what's essentially the duration of my lifetime. I've been around it and I know the toll it can take on the individual and those around them. I really hope that his family don't feel bad if they allow themselves to think whether life without him would be easier. I've been there during my dad's drinking and, as callous as it sounds, it's a completely natural thought process.

 

Before anyone else asks, I'm not here to judge anyone for putting the man aside from the artist. Music is an emotional thing and plays a huge part in some people's identity. One of the bands I liked growing up, the singer is in jail for sexual abuse of a toddler, so I get it.

He had so many drug problems, he smoked so much crack for like a 10 year period and bankrupted himself. It was bound to happen, still have my old DMX CDs somewhere.

Sounds like a great guy!  I can see why so many people are upset over his death. Dogs however are breathing a sigh of relief.
