So is Canada being stiffed on deliveries, or what's up with that? Canada has little in the way of domestic vaccine production. Trump made threats and promises to domestic producers in the US to keep vaccines here. Huge subsidies followed by threats to yank them back if they didn’t come through domestically. Say what you will about the man, but he knew how to throw money at a problem 😂 Edited April 9, 2021 by LeviF91 2

He has a comment on everything going on south of the Canadian border. Let's see what he has to say about this one! In the meantime I'll follow my own rule and leave it to you guys to deal with your own issues. Ok dude. Canada does not have access to production facilities for any of the producers. A long history but the short firm us this. 1. Many years ago Canada forced a reduction of patents on new drugs produced in Canada and tougher higher tax laws 2. The results ....drug companies left for more favourable countries....Canada developed a huge industry of generic drug manufacturers, Canada drug costs dropped significantly as a result ( even trump told Americans to go to a Canada to buy drugs). Often bus loads of US vutuzens came to Canada to purchase prescriptions. 3.Pfizer has openly told Trudeau to fix the tax structure. He did not. Whether that is good or bad, who knows. 4. One thing you never see advertised in Canada is drug companies reducing costs to those people who may not be able to afford the drug. Why? US drug companies make so much money they act generous, take the bows, yet the accepted millions of government dollars to help with this vaccine. 5. So Canada gets cheaper drugs but limited access to these emergency drugs (and others from time to time) 6. Trudeau is still a nut! I have several people in my area who have family from Canada that flew down before Thanksgiving and are still here, going back sounds awful to them. Keep them there, please.

Niagara Bill Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 Ok...you said you know of people who flew down from Canada last Thanksgiving and never went back. I said keep them. I never mention ethnicity, and you never mentioned it either in your first post I joked about. Now you turn it racist. You are a piece of work Timmy. 💩
LeviF Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 I still think Canada is a psyop. Literally a "country" that only exists to watch over America from a thin line of cities on the border. It's too bad the Fenians didn't take it.
Wacka Posted April 9, 2021 Posted April 9, 2021 Reason drugs cost so much more in the US is because the re5t of the world has a cap on prices. It takes many years and lots of $ to do the research and the testing. In other countries they can't recoup those costs, so they rely on the US to do it. The last big medicine that was developed in Canada was probably insulin by Banting and Best in the 20s. The generics are drugs where the patents have run out. The research for those were done years ago.

Trump was never ridiculed for vaccine, and he had little to do with roll out. He was responsible for pushing for vaccine and investment in vaccine. Read the post I responded to. The USA has the vaccine produced at home and the results show for sure. Read my post on why Canada is so far behind fir explanation

That would be an argument for keeping all the vaccines created here, no? Why you bogarting our stash? Why not just pump out some generics? Sorry for the loss of your sovereign Prince btw. We lost ours a few years ago. Godspeed.

Look after your family, then your neighbor. If it was the other way around I would insist we do it that way. May Purple Rain fall on your head...😁

May Purple Rain fall on your head...😁 But we’ve got a really, really, really, really big family and as you yourself pointed out in a Niagara Billerly fashion, it seems we are not doing such a great job of taking care of numero uno. When you factor in the Canadian business model with respect to health care, as you pointed out, it’s hard not to come to the conclusion we’re being taken advantage of. The Canadian govt has convinced everyone that their process works really, really well until, voila, suddenly it doesn’t when people get sick— which is part of the reason drugs and health care are important. Personally, I’m happy to see neighbors helping neighbors, but it is kind of ironic. It strikes me an awful lot like the smarty pants who saved all sorts of money on health insurance but was amazed that when he developed cancer companies were unwilling to take on the risk. We are behind in vaccines not because of a Healthcare system, but tax system and patent laws. Ying and yang. It is always a trade off. You financed Astra to take over a producer in Baltimore that destroyed 15,000,000 doses because of bad management. So all Healthcare systems have their issues. That discussion is way to long. Most of the civilized world has a similar system as we do. It begins with a believe that all citizens are entitled to Healthcare regardless of $$$$$. The pros and cons for either is irrelevant. But so be it...let it rain purple. 1

Niagara, the US system doesn’t leave anyone without healthcare it simply puts the first line of access with and through your employer. It’s a way to incentivize work and way to have employers compete for good employees. It’s also a way to entice others to work in the public sector where benefits are more plentiful. Our system works very well and the vast majority of our citizens are very happy with it. 1
