How so?  If a 34 year old WR who will be playing on his fourth team in 3 seasons is expected to be a key contributor, there’s plenty of room for a talented rookie.

Says someone who clearly hasn't watched said 34 year old WR play.

You called Cole Beasley just another guy.  He isn’t.  He was All-Pro last season.

You called Emmanuel Sanders just another guy.  He isn’t.  Just last off season, he was signed to a 2 year 24M contract by a contending team with cap problems.

they may not be superstars, but they are not JAGs

Ran 4.44, not quite as fast as I hoped.

But it would be nice to have a speedy WR ready for an expanded role by 2022.

Speed is an easy way to take attention away from guys like Diggs/Beasley.

Burst and ball-tracking made him an excellent deep threat in college.

Joe Marino says the catch is he needs to expand route tree and add functional strength, both of which he can take his rookie year to work on. He'd certainly have some excellent veteran route runners to learn from!

here are some thoughts..

Not only are they not JAGs, they're great fits for what this staff is clearly looking for -- ability to separate.

The caveman football fan in me wants to spread 5 6'5" wrs out and throw jump balls all day, but this staff clearly has a plan and those guys fit into it. We're SET at WR for this year. Could certainly use some youth to develop behind them, so to the topic at hand, I think Dyami goes way higher than we'll be looking for a WR.

Pass catchers on this roster consist of Diggs and a bunch of JAGs.  Of course there’s room for a talented rookie.

The fact there might be room for a rookie isn't the part that's utter nonsense. This is:

And utter nonsense may be understating it. One of those "JAGs" was a second-team All-Pro last year. We've got probably a top three or four group of receivers.

We could indeed find room for a young WR, particularly if he's genuinely good. He'd have to compete with Hodgins and a few others, but they'd probably keep six if someone made it worth their while.

I don’t know enough about him.

I don’t know if it’s wise to use a top 4 pick on a WR vs other positions of need. 160 pick or late...sure....

how many WRs does this team carry on the roster?

Diggs

Beasly

Sanders

Davis

open spot

Return specialist McKenzie

Special team spot option or if they have two spots for best prospect , one on O and one on D that might not clear waivers

from an offense roster structure...

4 ST..K P LS, returner

24 D

24 O

1  open spot for a prospect

on offense....the core

2 QBs

3 RBs

5 WR

3 TE

8 OL

=21

3 spots to spare..1QB, 1OL, 1 receiver/runner

Yup.  Beasley is a stud.  Sanders isn’t close to what he once was, but he’s not aged into JAG status yet.  He can be a solid contributor this season.  That said, we could definitely use a speedy X WR to round the group out.

Chris Simms I think had him as like the #4 rated WR in this draft. He is a solid evaluator. That being said I see him as a top 45 pick.

I have also said don’t be surprised if the Bills grab a WR at 30.... but I still think they will lean defense, DE. My guess now is Joseph Ossai Texas.

I see where you are coming from.... Beasley and Sanders are getting older. Davis is coming into his 2nd year. WR I feel, for this offense in the next couple years is a huge demand.

Simms had Brown ranked number 3, and said the difference between him and the top 2 (Chase and Smith) is negligible.  I’d be surprised if he’s available at 61.

I really like Dyami too. I have him as a high second rounder and my WR5 - he is a top 35 player. I actually see a bit of Stefon Diggs in him. He is fast but not a burner, love his release and the routes he runs he really excels at. I think he can also play right across the formation which Daboll loves - remember last year he had Gabe learn all 3 starting receiver positions and used him in the slot and split out.

It is fair to say he was only asked to run a handful of routes in college and he will need to learn and master additional route combinations in the pros but when it comes to wide receivers they have to do two things - get open and catch the ball. I think he does both at a high level.

I think Wr is on the table at 30.  I dont see the athlete Chris Simms does.  I like the other Wr from LSU more Marshal.  There are a handful of guys at the postion who could be on the radar.  At this point get Josh as many weapons as possible.  Beasley and Sanders both are 30 somethings.

Yeah me either. He will go top 5 picks round 2 if I had to guess.

I’d love WR at 30..... something tells me McDermott won’t.....they are going corner, big nickel, or end at 30. Book it.

Right after the AFC Championship game a comment was made by Beane that this team needs to get faster? Have we done that? I don’t think so. Him saying faster I think he meant on the offensive side. We have our 4 WRs now, but 2 of those guys are above 30 years of age, Sanders on a 1 year deal. Davis is still raw and only having 1 season. Grabbing a WR at 30 that makes that position more explosive is actually a great move for not only next year but 2-3 years down the road with less growing pains.

I hope we can get a trade down to say 40, pick up an extra 3rd. At 40 take Elijah Moore or Dyami Brown. At 61 grab DE potentially trade up for Joseph Ossai if still available or stay and grab DE Quincy Roche.

The only way to complete with KC is to keep adding weapons.  As you point out, our WR room is hardly young, and even Diggs is going to turn 28 this season.
