Interesting. That is much more than we need just to fill roster with players on vet mins isn't it? So somebody with 5-7mill. cap hit coming soon?

 

I think Beane was more than clear that he will do this only if totally necessary.

I think it is to create room for additional bargain FAs. I don’t think he wants to restructure contracts of players who they may move on from in the near future because that’s creating dead cap. Think Steelers and Saints as teams that live that way and pay for it later. Guys like Tre and Dion have built in conversions like this in their contracts to help make the cap fluid. That said he didn’t want to pull that lever until he had to.

Wow what else can you tell us? We need pass rush. It’s a weak draft for pass rush. There’s nobody else out there. People will groan about everything on here. 1 year 7.5 mil is not even a bad deal

I doubt it's for anything significant. We still need some o line and LB depth. And maybe a vet CB to compete for the #2 job.

They wouldn’t do this for the draft this early.  They are preparing for a trade or a signing.  I thought once the tv deals were announced Beane would be doing something like this move.  He now knows for sure we’ll be ok in 2022 and beyond.  Should be fun to watch.
