I don’t get it.  They could be selling jerseys and swag like crazy if they just picked a new name.  Seems like a huge missed opportunity.

I have it on good authority they will return as the Washington Ruby Epidermises.  That will look awesome on a t-shirt.

The new unis actually grew on me.  I could see keeping them.  But yeah, that W goes with Washington so they really could pick any name.  Sticking with WFT is just petty.

There’s been some speculation that Snyder will sell the team.  If that’s true it would makes sense to hold off and allow the new owner to name the team.

Every time I see WFT, I first read it as WTF.  I guess it is all the same... 😉

I think the team is profiting from the novelty value of the WFT name. Why not milk it to the full?

And they preserve the option value  of a new name with extra Jersey sales etc. An option is only valuable so long as it has not been exercised :)

They wanted  the Senators but it is taken then thought about using Congressmen but they were split on the vote ;)

Then they were going with Bullets but had a wait a minute moment ;)

Then it was on to the Generals(it fit too well) ;)

I actually think Washington Football Team is cool. I wouldn't change it just to have a goofy mascot.

When this name change stuff first happened I thought they were going to go with Redtails. Close to the Redskins name.

Most English football teams (soccer) go by nothing more than the name of the town and they’re some of the oldest/richest franchises in sports.  For example: Liverpool Football Club, etc. You get used to it.
