I agree. Anybody you can think of either a remaining free agent or in the draft that could help?

Why don’t you think they’re interested in either? Is it just money in your opinion?

I know many on the board think Jadaveon Clowney is overrated and will be over paid. Overrated, perhaps and everyone is overpaid usually in FA but I like Clowney because even if he doesn't get to the QB regularly he's very stout against the run which is a bonus imo. The other veteran I like is Justin Houston, he's still a solid presence on the field.

In the draft I really like Jaelan Phillips from Miami, if he can stay healthy, he's had multiple concussions which is always a concern but is a tremendous talent and could probably help this team right away imo.

I saw him referred to as looking "NFL" ready already!

If they can get Rousseau or Phillips from Miami in the draft in round 1 or 2, would either start? I know they both are considered to be starter potential year 1 but are both high ceiling players. Rousseau is a freak athlete as a Sophomore so I just don’t know that he can be impactful at that age yet.

Exactly...what the h...is going to be different this time with this cast! I know what I saw in the Chiefs game and it was beyond just schemes and coaching!

*nods*  We needed some pieces, no question.

Obviously the Bills have to be very selective about where they try to improve in FA due to cap

So far the offensive moves are moving on from our best "speed" WR (who struggled to get open against press man) to a much more physical route runner who is not as fast, swapping a "small offensive lineman" at TE for a lower-tier but more all-purpose TE, and upgrading at a position we hope we never see play - Backup QB.  So far we kept exactly the same OL and the same RBs that couldn't run against good teams last season.

So far there are no defensive moves - releasing Quinton Jefferson and renegotiating with a bunch of guys allowed us to re-sign Milano and Levi Wallace.

Beane has to know that if we're going to compete better next year, we need to 'level up' on pass rush, CB #2, OL, and RB.  We need SPEED.

I trust Beane, but it's puzzling

As much as I understand the Cap and its restrictions, this is still the same team that lost to the Chiefs and barely escaped the Colts. I would somehow like to see a few tenacious and fast defenders to match up well against these teams because they are coming...especially now after the Bills success. A CB2, a DE, another LB and OL help. Singletary no!

Totally agree. The formula to beat KC is crystal clear. We need more speed at RB but especially at Edge. Tampa dominated Patrick. We've done well to re-up our own players but the cap money has run out. Our first 3 picks will be DE, RB and CB in any order. Speed is paramount.....

IMO, the Bills window to win the SB is now. Adding Geno Atkins and Carlos Dunlap will improve the pass rush from the outside and interior. The Bills can restructure some contracts to "fit" them in on 1 or 2 yr contracts. I'm hoping Beane has approached them on joining the team. I believe they would be the final two pieces needed to beat the Chiefs/TB for SB crown

ditto for me. Atkins from the inside, Dunlap from the edge

It would be good to have two people like that on the team that know each other so well.

Because of the cap, if I had to choose one, it would be pass rusher.

So would I...but we all know what has to be done.

I'm convinced Joseph Ossai is their target at pick 30. I know the Bills have scouted him in person a few times. Everything I read about him sounds like a perfect fit for what McDermott and Beane look for. He's a raw athletic talent that's still growing into the position, has a high motor and never gives up on a play. He reportedly loves playing football and practices harder than anyone. A natural leader in the locker room. If he is the pick we'll have to be patient though, he's not a day one 3-down starter. Ideally we'd sign Clowney or Kerrigan or someone of that caliber for a year while Ossai develops. I'm sure the Bills are banking on Epenesa taking a step this year as well.

Neither will be available past pick 20.  Those two guys and Payne from Mich are the only 3 that have year 1 starter/impact potential. They all are probably gone by like I said pick 20 or so. All others are developmental prospects.

I like him quite a bit but like you said he'll pay off later not right away.

Would you be open to trading up or do you feel we need all the draft capital we can get?

Speed is a killer and it showed in the Chiefs game and the Colts game.

Man I'm on the fence there. Maybe if one of em' fell just far enough to only cost our 3rd rounder or lower. Like HappyDays said though Ossai at 30 is still a nice prospect, you'd just have to be a bit more patient.

They need a stud veteran....

That will require a major trade, which looks much slimmer than me lol.

It's almost as if Beane is punting the offseason away... similar to McDermotts FG decisions in the Championship game.

Too conservative an approach this offseason to this point...

I don’t know if they’ve been too conservative (yet).

They did go hard after Watt, they just didn’t get him.

Also, like a few have suggested, Beane might be waiting to get the price down for one of these second-tier pass rushers that are still out there.

Speed at RB and Leonard Fournette hahaha...I agree we need explosive pass rushers but our RBs are better than TBs so that had nothing to do with them beating KC. Pass rush, pass rush, pass rush that’s what we need and better play by Milano in coverage. White was a monster in the super bowl...The offense will be better than it was last year even if we do nothing more on that end (although I’m sure we’re not done there either)

Phillips has a second round grade and at least 50% of the mock drafts machines I have done still have Rousseau there. Some teams will not want to draft a 20 year old. The QB run will push a lot of talent into the high 20s.. if teams get enamored with the top RBs and WRs then one of them will be there.

Yeah, especially if we get someone in the draft to develop.

You could a guy like you mentioned above on a one year contract while you develop the pass rusher you drafted.

I asked this to someone else in this thread as well.

If your pass rusher is there in the 20s, would you be open to trading up or do you feel we need all the draft capital we can get?
