He is a tough dude also.  Remember we he tried to return a fumbled punt w no helmet on running it out of the end zone and got creamed in the face and head?  LOL  Lots of blood and he was dazed.  But still was able to get off the field.  Anyone have the footage of that from a few years back?  Game was at the Ralph.

Home opener.  I was sitting in that end zone 25 rows up.  Saw it happen.  Even worse, heard it happen.  Like a car crash you see is about to happen but you can’t stop it.  SCARY is an understatement.  Thank God he got up.

What does this guy have on Beane?

He is a core special teamers. McDermott has always had a number of specific special teamers.

Goodbye Christian Wade?

Wade isn't a special teamer.

Don’t like this at all. I was hoping we would get a guy like James white or Rex Burkhead for that “other” RB spot.

He isn't an RB. He is a special teamer. The RB designation is simply because they still don't recognise special teamer as a position

Yawn. A waste of a RB spot.

He isn't taking an RB spot. It's a special teamer spot, which could be filled with any type of position.

What makes him a good special teamer? I feel like he's not very good at tracking the ball and keeping it out of the endzone.

I feel like they haven’t been good at this for years. It’s like the 2 point defense, noticeably bad in a very specific area.

Yes, he is taking an RB spot. I know that is not his primary position for this team, but it is a spot that he takes on the active roster.

I respect McDermott's emphasis for having a strong Special Teams unit, yet I don't think that re-signing Jones is necessary.

Let's stick with the players we currently have on the roster. Tyler Matakevich, Daryl Johnson, Siran Neal & Jaquon Johnson are all very good special teams players, let's stick with what we have, and use our money for a different position.

3 of the 4 players you've listed line up in very different positions (on STs) than Jones. Neal lines up at the same position, gunner, for which a team typically needs 2 guys at any one time. I'm sure you understand all that, yet you list these guys as if they're interchangeable.

No he isn't. You don't have a fixed number of roster spots per position. So he could be a WR, LB or CB and it wouldn't make any difference. They arent planning for him for his position on offense or defense. He is serving as a special teamer. He should be alongside Bass, Ferguson and Haack as a specialist. He is unlike say Hyde, who does special teams as a compliment to his role on defense

My point is that they could let some of their other players already on the roster have a shot at special teams.
