why would they wait 4 more days to do this?

Lifestyle funding (paying Krueger not to coach)

Does this free up cap space for another Vet FA?

around 15M I believe. They are likely waiting to trigger til they need the cap space for a signing.

Find a way to get Patrick Peterson.

It feels like there is too much pressure on Tre White playing outside.

Patrick Peterson and Justin Houston would be solid vet additions. (as would a healthy, reinvigorated Ertz).

As Andrew Brandt tweeted earlier today, NFL will not approve transactions if you don't have the cap space, so we need to do all of this stuff (extend Hughes a year or 2 to drop the hit, add 2 yrs $40 m to Diggs etc) before we can make moves...

This all better be happening.

I think we may be able to restructure on top of this...

They need Peterson more than any UFA out there.

There is STILL way too much pressure on White being the only CB who is capable of covering someone man to man on the outside. And White's play fell off a little in 2020 because of it.

Peterson puts White back to being one of the top 2 CB's in the NFL.

Rumor on twitter is that White has been recruiting him hard

I also would be surprised to see Beane select a top cb early in the draft.

Hell yes. Couldn't agree more.

I'm not going to pretend to understand this crap. Is there any downside to the team or player in doing this ?

If not why wouldn't they?

You push cap hits down the line, but even with us needing to pay Allen, the cap will likely explode in coming years and we have 4 big contracts coming off the books next year on our DL.

You can't count on a rookie to be a good outside CB right away.

they will. You just have to either write it as an option or do a restructure. Worst case you just don’t spend the cash and roll it over

But if this is reducing the Bills 2021 cap hit, wouldn't they then be going from a little cap space to more cap space?  If so then whats the issue with the NFL not approving it?
