GunnerBill Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 Wasn't he considering retirement? That sort of money might sway my considerations too.... 1 1
H2o Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 Good for him. The guy has been through a lot. Crazy money though. 1

He was involved in a dispute over injury with the WFT who basically were implying he was faking the injury. He threatened retirement trying to get them to trade or release him. 1

No I think he was reportedly pondering it this offseason too. May have been a tactic to get the 49ers to up their offer. 1
Doc Brown Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 I think Staley got more last year in guaranteed money so this pry isn't as crazy as it seems. Just glad KC didn't get him. 2

Aireskoi Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 Chiefs tried but missed on Williams, thank goodness. 2 1
machine gun kelly Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 I know he is a elite Left Tackle, but he also turns 33 this summer. Even if he only gets the guarantee among three years and is 36, that would still be over $18 mil./yr. it doesn’t seem like a good deal for both sides, only the player. 2
NewEra Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 Great player....but wow. He’ll be 33 before the season starts. 55M gtd...look like it could be a 3 year contract paying him 23M a year if SF chooses 1
papazoid Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 trent's issue in washington was he lost confidence in their medical staff and wanted changes. he had a cancerous growth that almost took his life.

You are almost certainly correct but will they regret signing a 33 year old for 3 years? It seems like a huge investment in an older guy.
Buffalo03 Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 Am I the only one that thinks it's insane to pay a tackle that much? 1
OrtonHearsaWho Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 Happy for the man after what he dealt with in Washington. I'm also happy that we were able to sign the Shnowman when we did!

Doc Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 Dumb. He’ll be 33 just before the season starts. But at least it keeps him away from AFC competitors, for whom he could be good at least for the next couple years.
