Not guna beat the dead horse again, but Addison should be on the market as well right now. Yeah at his salary I agree... but I’m not sure there are many clear upgrades for the production to pay ratio after he took his pay cut. I may be wrong... I’ll admit if I am wrong... I just didn’t think anyone else was that elite where it was a clear upgrade

They weren’t worth the money.....no doubt. Horrible Is a bit much imo. I was hoping we’d move on from Addison, but we wouldn’t save that much by cutting him. I thought Butler turned his game around in the 2nd half of the year and played a lot of solid 1Tech and his play at the 1 tech helped our D turn the corner down the stretch. 1

They're paying $48 million combined for Kendrick Bourne and Nelson Agholor, for starters. That's insanity. Every year there's a runaway "free agency winner", and veeerrrry rarely do that team's free agency contracts wind up looking smart/worthwhile in retrospect. Frankly, the Pats are spending like the drought era Bills. Big flashy moves for top-of-the-ticket free agents. Color me unimpressed. I recall the ball washing that the media was giving the jets after they overpaid for Bell, Mosley, and a washed up Ryan Kalil that whooollleee offseason before 2019..... good times. I was hopeful on Addison and missing Star was a big issue for our D, but the combined cost and McDs "rotation" pit too much money on marginal talents instead of good players Jmo of course and I can't really disagree with your thoughts, they are valid... 1 1

I agree 💯. We should’ve spent on one great player as opposed to a few middling vets to rotate. but think back.....who were we going to sign? There weren’t ANY big time stats to throw the money at. https://www.nfl.com/news/ten-pass-rushers-worth-pursuing-in-free-agency-2020-nfl-draft-0ap3000001102492

I will say, the jump this year was not really expected as much as it was so the thought of pushing it wasn't on my mind that much. No one foresaw Covid and it's affects on the cap, otherwise we would have had a huge chuck going into this year. Iirc, we were 5th in terms of cap percentage spent on DL this year. McD wants pressure with the front 4, says it every year and this is what we got...no beuno

For the money Phillips and Lawson were better choices. I'm worried about 1T, Edge and WR Speed (he has to be able to catch the ball). Feel like CB is meant for the draft Phillips and Lawson had really poor seasons so that really worked out poorly for their teams. Star not being back? Irrelevant........as "meh" as he was in 2019 a street free agent might be able to beat him out at this point. Maybe Snacks will jump over from Green Bay for the minimum salary. And he's actually tackled a RB in the past 3 years. 1

No disagreement on Star, the other 2 played well in our scheme, for the record I was on the let them walk side last year, but that being said, they did produce for us and played better (on our team) as opposed to the replacements. Results in 202 turned out to be: Another year in the same scheme > new team chasing FA dollars

I thought they milked Phillips for all the production they were going to get.........I wasn't a believer that he was going to be able to sustain anything. He started out hot though.......but then the other shoe dropped. Really fat guy on relatively skinny legs.

They need at least two space eaters. A starter and a backup. Last year this was their biggest weakness.

It’s evident they are choosing bigger taller FA as BB knows Cam is inaccurate, and needs targets with a large catch radius.

machine gun kelly Posted March 16, 2021 Posted March 16, 2021 Both out performed for their contract years, but this year, they both stunk (Phillips and Shaq). Star was more important than many wanted to admit in 2019. We had the 3rd best defense in yards in 2019, and 2nd best in points. Star played his part. If he really wants to retire, I would understand, but he’d leave a lot of $ on the table amd he’s only 31. If retiring, we would need a 1 technique guy either in FA, or in the draft.
