Bengals fans were hoping to sign Williams this off season:

http://thebengalsboard.com/Thread-Daryl-Williams-Re-signs-with-Bills

And it's always fun to read a take on the Bills like this from another fan base:

Yep, hurts for us Bengal fans, for sure.  However, can you really blame the guy for wanting to stay with the Bills?  They have one of the most rabid ban bases in football, in Bills Mafia.  They have a good team, with what looks like a potential future All-Pro in Allen at QB, they made noise in the playoffs, and are doing their level best to keep the band together.

Meanwhile, you have the Bengals.  The Bengals missed their sweet spot with 5 straight playoff appearances, their chance to get noticed and command respect from Big Market USA.  The team that was, is now diminished and pretty much starting from scratch with a new franchise QB, and a handful of younger, talented players.

If I hadn't been a Bengal fan my whole life, it would be really tough to not love the Bills, as a new football fan.

Dudes got one thing wrong. Allen isn’t a “potential future all pro”. He’s ALREADY earned that nod.... good find though. thanks for sharing.

He has already earned 2nd team all pro to be 100% accurate.

Joe B's mock offseason is in shambles

Yours is perfect so far?

Mine sure isn't. Not that I put in anywhere near as much detail as Joe B did.

He was a free agent so it is not an extension.

Well to be fair - FA has not started yet - so he was still a Bill with an expiring contract.  It is not a typical extension that adds on to the remaining years, but it was completed while still under contract and without the details maybe that’s the way they worded it.

I agree the wording is sketchy, but I can understand the decision to call it an extension.  I mean even the Bills Twitter calls it an extension.

Thank you. Love seeing other teams fanboards -especially when they’re filled with intelligent, insightful perspectives.

No Gang Green, I don’t mean you.

Personally I think it's easier to find a starting guard at 30 than finding a starting EDGE rusher. So I would vote to let Feliciano go,, cut Addison, restructure Hughes + Star. Use Kumerow/Duke/Stills as your replacement for Brown on the roster (Gabe Davis is your #2). Use that 10M in cap savings to find a F/A EDGE, draft a starting guard, a DE/3T tweener, a slot corner, a speedy WR, and a TE.

Unfortunately TE is likely going to go unanswered this offseason. Think EDGE is more pressing.

You could actually snag Friermuth at 30, trade up into the 2nd round and grab a starting RG there.

Your logic with guard and edge is really spot on. Letting Feliciano go with Morse’s concussion history may be a huge mistake. We did not miss a beat when John slid to center. You just cannot put a price tag on a versatile o-lineman that can play anywhere in the interior, at a high level. See Baltimore and the struggles they had at center. We cannot do that to JA.

So you are saying he should be mocked.

Isn’t that why they are called “mock” drafts, ?

they are wrong at a rate pushing 100% of the time, 😁👍

I have never seen a mock I liked. I have gone out with relatives who are vegetarians and liked mock duck however.

I had the exact same reaction.  But for Bengal's fans down here in Cincinnati their take on Allen is based on the late explosion he had on Prime Time and the playoffs.  So they're a but behind the curve.  The football talk radio guys down here routinely mention Allen and "elite" in the same breadth.  They say that for the Bengals to have a shot in the AFC Burrow has to develop into an elite level QB like Mahomes, Allen & Jackson.

As an aside, Lamar Jackson has absolutely destroyed the Bengals so you won't get many folks in Cincy throwing out that he isn't an elite passer.  In the AFC North they know he'll be a headache for years to come.  Then if the Bengals can get out of the Division they have to tangle with Mahomes & Allen.  So in their minds everything depends on Burrow.

wow.  our  bookend tackles under contract for next three seasons.

Now they have to find some cheaper talent for the LG position and hope Cody Ford will be back at the RG position

I'm sure Ford will get a chance to compete for a spot, but what about Ike Boettger?  They seem to really like him.

But if they do bring Boettger back, perhaps it's Ford/Boettger at LG and Feliciano/draft pick at RG?

I forgot about him! I believe he’s only an RFA too, correct?

hmm I wonder if maybe they think about letting Feliciano walk then, if they can’t bring him back on a reasonably cheap deal (meaning a deal they could still justify if he doesn’t end up starting).

I know they love the toughness/nastiness he brings to the o line, and the versatility to play C. But I thought he struggled at times last season (though I’m not really a very good judge of o line play).

He played the last 5 games last year at LG. I think that’s where they want him. And now that the RT experiment is over, he can concentrate solely at that position.

I know they love the toughness/nastiness he brings to the o line, and the versatility to play C. But I thought he struggled at times last season (though I’m not really a very good judge of o line play).

It was clear he struggled last season, and the struggles seemed (to what I saw) more related to reaction speed and foot speed than directly to his shoulder and pec injuries.  But it's possible that the injury prevented off-season work that would have helped there, or that his pain control regime slowed his reactions down.  I think the team voting him the Ed Block Courage award implies that he was going through some stuff with that injury that really affected him and they all knew it.

I would like to see the Bills bring Feliciano back because I think it's a huge risk not to go "belt and suspenders" careful that you have a good OL.  We know Feliciano can fill in capably across the interior, including at C.  If we have Boettger and Ford competing at LG and Feliciano and a rookie competing at RG with Bates and Adams as the backup Tackles and Devey as the backup guard (he looks like a tackle, but he's listed as a guard) that seems like a plan to me.

I frankly don't have faith in Ford at this point that he can overcome injuries and stay healthy to play at a high level in the NFL.

But maybe they like Bates at center and Devey at guard enough that they feel they can compete with a rookie and and a capable vet they pick up at a lower price tag.

I don't think that's "enough" for the most important position group on the team since they enable both the run game and the pass game to work....but I also admit that "Good is the Enemy of Great" and you can't improve by keeping everything the same.

I can't see them spending big money in FA or even a high draft pick on a WR with Diggs and Beasley as your #1 and slot and Davis looking ready to take the #2 spot.  Signing a guy like Samuel or drafting one high just pushes Davis down the depth chart.

Samuel is versatile enough to play any of the WR positions and long term he's probably most dangerous from the slot.   Beasley is in his walk year and has battled injuries.......Samuel would be the successor there in 2022.   He would also become the Bills most dangerous RB option out of the backfield.    He's a real RB too.......and legitimately 4.3 fast........not like "fast for a RB" guys like Etienne who people want to spend a high draft pick on.    And his #'s as a deep ball receiver are excellent so yeah he can bounce out and play the X or Z.

Davis is a good young player but he put enough bad things on tape this year and I have seen enough sophomore slumps that I would definitely not be pleased with him as WR1 or WR2 if Beasley or Diggs had to miss some time.    He was great as "who was that guy" #4.......but in such a passing dominant league you actually need a 4th guy who is at least that good if you want to consistently win matchups against loaded secondaries.   Think Josh Reed falling off after Peerless Price left as an example of how it could go.   The difference between drawing the 3rd or 4th DB and the 2nd one is huge.

Adding any healthy UFA who was good in 2020 might be a moot point now because by not cutting Addison and by signing a guy with a long injury history in Milano........therefore requiring a shorter term deal.......they have about $6M-$8M less in cap space than if they had just cut Addison and signed JJ Watt to the Arizona deal(for example) instead of inking Milano.   That would have left enough to secure Samuel in year 1 of a 5 year deal and still get Williams for his short 3 year, first year $6M deal without yet having to reach into re-structured deals with guys like White and Dawkins yet.
