Dont Stop Billeiving Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 (edited) Rapoport just tweeted 7 min ago that 'Bills C Mitch Morse cut his salary by nearly $2M to stay in Buffalo.' Great news. A solid player kept at a more reasonable cost. Edited March 9, 2021 by Dont Stop Billeiving Added link 21 5
JMF2006 Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Thats good news. This team needs to keep it's talent and depth. 4
Dont Stop Billeiving Posted March 9, 2021 Author Posted March 9, 2021 (edited) Follow up tweet from Ian Rapoport...sounds like some new incentives have been built in which seems like the smart approach to hedge against his injury risk/concussion history. QBorBust2018 Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 I would still like to bolster this OL. Hope they select a lineman in the first 3 rounds. 4 6
Negan Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Nice, one less hole to fill. Nothing wrong with a veteran center. 3
colin Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 positive news! i gotta say, given morse is getting kept cheaper, i think it's one of williams or mongo getting retained, not both. unless they think they can get RB and OLB cheap in the draft or what have you. based on mccorch's past, the DL is gonna get real attention. that's his bread and butter.
Dont Stop Billeiving Posted March 9, 2021 Author Posted March 9, 2021 Good point from Sal C...I was never in favor of releasing Morse, but sounds like the Bills will possibly willing to go that route if necessary. 1

Royale with Cheese Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 There goes my Morse will be cut and Feliciano will start at center idea. 2

NI Bills Fan Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Excellent news. As one of the leaders on the team, hopefully this sets an example and we see some savings made with other contracts too. 4 1

Absolutely, only LT (Dawkins) and C (Morse) are filled with above average players at this point. I'm hoping they can bring back Williams on a $10M AAV or less contract, but that may not be in the cards. We need upgrades at both guard spots IMO (although I could live with Ike Boettger since we aren't overflowing with cap space and draft picks) as well so yeah completely agree that we should aim to use an early draft pick on the O-line and another in the later rounds. 1

I was expecting him to be a cut and another center to be signed - possibly even Mongo returning. While this is certainly better than paying him what he was due, I’d have probably still gone that route. One more concussion and I don’t see how you ever put him back on the field. I’d be shocked if we don’t draft a center this year.

Casey D Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 I think Williams is gone-- too expensive. Feliciano back as well because his cheaper. Ford back, and get a cheaper RT option in FA, put Ford back there, or most likely a high pick. 2
Ethan in Cleveland Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Good move. I would have been fine if they cut him, but keeping him another year at a lower cost works too. Hope they do the same with Brown. 1

When you have 5 concussions you are basically playing on borrowed time to begin with. They had an out and should have taken it. Josh needs to be paired with a young center for the next 10 years (Landon Dickerson?) and while it's fun to picture Morse starting for 16 games it just isn't likely to happen. 2 1
