What if the NFL steps in and says they're gonna limit the salary based on the players position? QB's - no more than 10% WR - no more than 5% .............. and so on, It'll make it easier for teams to sign there own players. It'll put more emphasis on drafting good players and keeping them. Teams will be built from the draft, the way it should be. The NFL does not have that power. It would have to be collectively bargained in a new CBA. QB pay is getting out of control, but I’m not sure what the best solution is. A wise man I knew once said the answer to high prices is...........high prices. Those rookie deals look more inviting every year.
Fan in Chicago Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 I look forward to Cowboys cap numbers post this deal wonder who has to be cut (read: on Beane’s radar) to “make the numbers work” 1
1st Ammendment NoMas Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 This sucks, it is going to drive Allen's price way, way up and limit us building depth around him long term.

Allen had 0 run game and everyone know what was coming and Allen still carried this team to the AFCC just think if we had Zeke. So I think he will get more then dak especially if he plays the same this year.

scuba guy Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 So let's do a little accounting Est cap 170mill Dak 40 mill Zek 15 mill So 55 mill for 2 players 170 -55 115 mill for 49 players So basically 2mill per player And just think Oliver gets 4mill per year on a first round pick Not many clams to go around for the rest of the team 1

To a certain extent yes. And again, why should 1 player get upwards of 12% or more of the teams salary cap? Is there a rule saying the QB should get that much? Or a star WR should get around 10%? or why 3/4 players should consist of 25% of the teams salary cap? I don't think so.... Mind you, I didn't look at the CBA, but I believe that as long as the team is under the cap before the season starts(or whatever the rule specifically states) then that's all that matters. If the cap is 170M, The top QB's (Mahomes) should get 10%, so at most 17M. Dak's would probably be like 12M in this scenario. Just limit the positional spending(all positions, not just QB). It'll give teams a lot more money to put towards other positions of need. Some players would get mad because they wont get as much, but others would end up getting more.

I don’t think this deal will impact Josh’s deal at all. He was always going to get 40+ million on his deal. The cap will start going back up, the Bills will be able to build a team around him. 1

Big Turk Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Guess Allen just made a killing without doing a thing... 1 hour ago, BillsRdue said: This sucks, it is going to drive Allen's price way, way up and limit us building depth around him long term. Not really...the cap is about to skyrocket especially after the new TV contracts kick in after 2022...

I think this sets the market for Josh as he isn't taking a penny less. I think Josh is focused on winning a championship and like Brady will do right by the team to ensure that they can put a competitive team around him. 3 1
Milanos Milano Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 Please Josh be a team hero and only take 38 mil a year. I want to win a super bowl, and we need other talent to pay to get there.

Mahomes was a MVP and Super Bowl winner. I can see 10 years at 430 million with half guaranteed. I think that’s a fair contract.
