Dallas Goedert was. Yeah but the offense stunk, and Wentz is terrible and Pederson is an idiot, and they had nobody else to throw the ball to. Here's what journeyman TE Richard Rodgers did in the same putrid offense with Ertz out. 7. 6 for 85 8. 0 for 0 9. 4 for 60 10. 2 for 48 11. 3 for 53 Zach Ertz was an elite tight end. He is not an elite TE anymore. He's better than what we currently have on the team but if you expect to see the Ertz that gained 900 yards on 135 targets in 2019 or the Ertz that gained 1,100 yards on 156 targets in 2018 you're going to be disappointed. First off, he's not going to see anywhere near that number of targets. Diggs had 166 last year, Beasley had 109, Davis was 3rd most with 62. Lets assume that Davis got some targets that would have been Brown's as the 3rd WR and let's make Ertz the 3rd most targeted player on the team with something like 80 targets. His career catch percentage is 67%. His last 3 years have been 74.4%, 65.3% and 50%, respectively, which makes his 3 year average 63.2% That gives him 51 catches. Ertz' career average is 10.8 yards per catch. He has been under that average each of the last three years (10.0, 10.4, 9.3). His most recent 3 year average is 9.9 yards a catch. 51 catches at his career average of 10.8 ypc is 551 yards. 51 catches at his most recent 3 year average of 9.9 ypc is 505 yards. So barring a massive share of Diggs or Beasley's targets going to Ertz you are looking at somewhere between 500 and 550 yards receiving. Yeah but Wentz stunk and Hurts doesn't throw well so he must've gotten a lot of bad balls to see his catch percentage drop so much. Goedert was 70.8% last year. Rodgers was 77.4% Ertz is and always has been a compiler. He's not a game breaking player like Kelce or Kittle or Waller. He just isn't. Now you are going to have the compiler at age 30+. How much is that worth in terms of compensation for the Eagles and money for Ertz? Ertz isn't a top 5 TE in the league anymore. He's not even the best TE on the Eagles. In summary: He blows

It’s not about the raw numbers. It’s about having another weapon teams need to scheme for. Ertz would instantly upgrade our offense. Period. 2 1 1

How good was Cole Beasley in dallas? How good was John brown in Baltimore? Did you look at their numbers? no, he won’t put up huge numbers here. Not because he not good, but because Diggs gets fed and the ball is spread around effectively after him. We moved the chains and scored a lot of TDs this year. If we get ertz, we’ll do that again this year.... and we’ll have a better chance to win the super bowl than we did last year. 1

Need 2 pass catching threats at TE. Even if he is a decoy, he’s better than Lee Smith running pass routes. At least they will take him seriously. Hope Errz pass and run block. 1

Ertz was playing with Wentz who basically just got traded for a handshake to the only team who wanted him...Geez Ertz here would be about the 4th or 5th passing option for a 3 time pro bowler I’ll take that Edited March 17, 2021 by 78thealltimegreat 1
papazoid Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 ertz is a stud philly O-line was a mess he would be a great addition to the weakest starting position on last years team 2
Nihilarian Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 Ertz might have been good in his prime... last season he had a 56.7% catch percentage! I highly doubt Beane will trade anything for this player. OTOH, Eggils TE Dallas Goedert had a 70.8% catch percentage. 1 1
