What role did Trump play in the summer of 2020 riots?

Good for Trump to protect people coming to support him at his rally.

So this is taken to mean that Trump meant to protect them as they got into/inside the Capitol?

Yep.

Spin, spin, spin.

Never mind the tens of thousands that actually came to DC to protest the election steal, that he was referring to.

He must of meant those few lunkheads who trespassed and broke down property 48 hours after his request.

Idiots.

Again, more alternative definitions: "peacefully" and "patriotically."

And I love how the put quotes around where Trump asked for protection for the Demonstrators.  I'd like to know if he actually referred to them as Demonstrators

Trump certainly didn't protect the peaceful protestors who were tear-gassed to clear way for his photo shoot near the White House

Meanwhile - let's keep hearing Jim and Bonnie whitewash the events from 1/6:

House Republicans Defy the January 6 Narrative

by Julie Kelly

https://amgreatness.com/2021/05/13/house-republicans-defy-the-january-6-narrative/

It’s about time.U.S. Representative Andrew Clyde (R-Ga.) prompted outrage this week following his remarks during a congressional hearing on the events of January 6, 2021. Clyde, along with several Republican House members, is finally pushing back on the Democrats’ allegedly unassailable narrative about what happened that day. The roughly four-hour disturbance at the Capitol, as I’ve covered for months, is being weaponized not only against Donald Trump but also hundreds of nonviolent Americans who traveled to their nation’s capital to protest the final certification of a fraudulent presidential election.

12 times the number of people die at the Grand Canyon each year than died the Capital. Tourism is VERY dangerous. I suggest you stay home.

How many people died at this Trump insurrection?

House Democrats and Republicans announced a deal on legislation Friday to establish a commission to investigate the deadly Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol by a pro-Trump mob. The top members of the Homeland Security Committee agreed to a 10-member panel to study the “facts and circumstances … as well as the influencing factors” that provoked the attempted insurrection.
