DrDawkinstein Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 Very good, thanks for the heads up! Will have to take a deeper dive into these guys later. But if this is the best you've heard this millennium, you've been missing out on a lot of good bands over the last 20 years. 1 Quote

Pete Posted February 8, 2021 Author Posted February 8, 2021 And Slift renews my faith there is always good music being created somewhere, despite all the ***** we are bombarded with on radio, tv, out and about 1 Quote

They are both from Sheffield. People say they have the same sound. Quote
Bills4everNY Posted February 8, 2021 Posted February 8, 2021 Good stuff! Here are a few good indie bands that came out this millennium... Secret Machines The Vaccines DIIV (If you like The Cure, you might like them) I've got lots more that I will post later. 1 Quote
Mark80 Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 These two are both killer 2000s albums. Rock/stoner rock style that most have no idea exist. 2 Quote
4_kidd_4 Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 If youse guys dig the psychedelic/stoner/art rock then check out Thee Oh Sees. 2 Quote
Pete Posted February 9, 2021 Author Posted February 9, 2021 I love stoner rock! Kyuss is my favorite 3 Quote
Gugny Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 Black Pumas. Throwbacks and insanely talented. Groooooovy .... Quote
DrDawkinstein Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 Starting to circle back on this, but "good music over the last 21 years" is a pretty large window. So I'll try to narrow it down a bit to some select choices, mostly off the top of my head, certainly not comprehensive. I'm sure I'll think of others to add later too. Since you mentioned Kyuss, on the more sludgy, stoner metal side... The Sword Truckfighters Baroness Thinking about Jack White and QOTSA... Band of Skulls And then some good ol experimental stuff... The Mars Volta is a classic at this point. Here's the first album in a playlist. Battles popped and unfortunately quickly fizzled in 2003, but left us with some good work. Will think of more for later... 1 Quote
DrDawkinstein Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 Bonus plug for the best local (Atlanta) band that no one has heard of, but who have managed to open for bands like Them Crooked Vultures while refusing to tour or barely play shows... All The Saints Quote
Nextmanup Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 I was digging the groove in the first song (lots of pinch harmonics!) until the guy started singing. It deteriorated quickly after that. Quote
