I see that we are still over a week later deep in the autopsy of the Bills' playoff loss to the Chiefs. I understand that but to change it up a little bit here is a bit of fun thread we did a couple of years ago that I thought I'd revive.

We have SEVEN new Head Coaches in the National Football League

Jaguars - Urban Meyer

Texans - David Culley

Jets - Robert Saleh

Chargers - Brandon Staley

Falcons - Arthur Smith

Lions - Dan Campbell

Eagles - Nick Sirianni

All you have to do is decide of those seven who is he "most likely" to do the following things....

Start someone other than his incumbent starting Quarterback* week 1:

Be a 'one and done' Head Coach:

Make the playoffs his first year:

Win NFL Coach of the Year at some point in his first 3 years:

Win a Superbowl in the job to which he has just been hired:

Become Head Coach of the Buffalo Bills at some point in the future:

*for the purposes of this question the "incumbent starters" are: Minshew, Watson, Darnold, Herbert, Ryan, Goff, Hurts

Start someone other than his incumbent starting Quarterback* week 1: Urban (with #1 overall pick Zach Wilson)

Be a 'one and done' Head Coach: Campbell (primarily because cannibalism is frowned upon)

Make the playoffs his first year: Uncle Dave.

Win NFL Coach of the Year at some point in his first 3 years: Urban (because it's a bit of a lovey contest and he's a name)

Win a Superbowl in the job to which he has just been hired: Sirianni

Become Head Coach of the Buffalo Bills at some point in the future: Sirianni (geography, innit)

The only one Ima gonna tackle is:

Become Head Coach of the Buffalo Bills at some point in the future:

What is, none, because Sean McDermott is going to coach the Bills into his 70's and win 17 Superbowls, while going to the Superbowl 24 times.

He is going to lose in 7 (seven!) Superbowls? We better fire his ass now then.

Start someone other than his incumbent starting Quarterback* week 1: Urban Meyer - think a few of these qualify but Meyer is the most obvious answer.

Be a 'one and done' Head Coach: Nick Sirianni - only because the majority of these are coming as part of major house cleaning and it is unusual in those circumstances to fire a coach after 1 year. A 3-13 type season in Philly though and maybe Lurie blows the whole thing up.

Make the playoffs his first year: Brandon Staley

Win NFL Coach of the Year at some point in his first 3 years: Urban Meyer

Don’t really feel like playing this game, but there are only two coaches on that list who impress me at any level — Saleh and Staley.  That still doesn’t mean they’ll be successful, since we have seen “it takes a village” — ownership, GM, HC — to create lasting success.

Meyer is an interesting case.  You can’t question his success at the college level but will it translate/can he adapt to the professional game?

Culley is a completely uninspiring hire.  It’s reminiscent of the Bills hiring Chan Gailey, but without the assistant or college coaching success.

I actually read something from a reporter who said Sirianni is “sort of smart, but not super smart.”  Wow, that should get Eagles fans excited.

I literally know nothing about Arthur Smith.

And finally, Dan Campbell is a joke.  He is, quite literally, a caricature of an “old school, hard-nosed” football coach.  It’s going to be entertaining to watch.

I am interpreting "One and Done as one contract or less not one year.

I think those three are the most likely successes. Saleh because I think he was the best "candidate" on the market and is paired with a good GM and a boatload of picks (although it is the Jets and the Johnsons....), Staley because while I think it was maybe a year too early for him in an ideal world he inherits the best roster and a young QB who had an excellent rookie year and Meyer because he has the force of personality to turn Jacksonville around which it needs and he gets Trevor Lawrence.

Start someone other than his incumbent starting Quarterback* week 1: I think the Jags start a cheap vet week 1 and then turn it over to the GREATEST ROOKIE QB EVER around week 3. They should sign Tyrod, give him the starting job and wait for him to break his leg clipping his toenails or something.

Be a 'one and done' Head Coach: I'll say Culley for this. They'll grab a bunch of draft capital and then bring someone new in to coach it

Make the playoffs his first year: Staley all the way. Possibly Smith

Win NFL Coach of the Year at some point in his first 3 years: I'm going to say Staley after he gets the Chargers to the playoffs next year

Win a Superbowl in the job to which he has just been hired: None of them. But if I had to put a bet on it'd be Staley again

Become Head Coach of the Buffalo Bills at some point in the future: None. But if I had to bet... Smith.

First to get fined for chewing off someone's knee cap: too easy...

I think it's very possible every coach listed will be starting someone other than the incumbent QB listed minus Staley

Wentz probably the starter in Philly

Jets non committal to darnold

Jags have the number 1 pick

Lions have nothing invested in Goff

Watson wants out of Houston

Falcons will eventually re build

Start someone other than his incumbent starting Quarterback* week 1: If Meyer doesn't start Lawrence over Minshew I'd be floored

Be a 'one and done' Head Coach: Culley.  I'm almost entirely convinced that he's a "bridge" HC.

Make the playoffs his first year: Staley.  Herbert and that defense are for real.

Win NFL Coach of the Year at some point in his first 3 years: Meyer.  If the Jags make the playoffs next year it's a virtual lock.

Win a Superbowl in the job to which he has just been hired: Staley

Become Head Coach of the Buffalo Bills at some point in the future: Saleh

I agree Culley is intended as a bridge..... but I think that bridge is likely 2 years rather than 1....
