She wouldn’t be a national hero if she was on the left either. The left would call out her as a cancer just like McConnell did yesterday.

Wasn’t that was the other one from Georgia ?

This is a bad “both-sides” take. Growing up poor and becoming a member of Congress will never make you a “national hero” if you are a crackpot while doing it. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you believe. A decent society finds that neither respectable nor honorable... and least of all heroic.

Why is the Colorado one a crackpot? I thought it was the Georgia one saying all the ridiculous stuff.

With this one, There is the over the top gun advocacy (which I don’t agree with support). But I hadn’t seen her  promoting conspiracies like the Georgia Greene one.

This new "face" is driving thousands R's to drop the party in multiple states.

https://www.npr.org/2021/02/01/962246187/spurred-by-the-capitol-riot-thousands-of-republicans-drop-their-party

The number of people changing parties spiked immediately after the Capitol breach. The same phenomenon is playing out nationwide. News outlets documented about 6,000 defections from the party in North Carolina, 10,000 in Pennsylvania and 5,000 in Arizona

In states where Insurrection Man barely won by a few thousand votes .....

this just makes things all that more difficult for the Party in Denial to win future elections.

Because of her part in the insurrection. Because she tweeted out that 1/6 was “1776” and on 1/5 that the next 48 hours will be the most important in US history. During the insurrection, she tweeted about “Nancy Pelosi leaving the chamber”.

Make no mistake. This uneducated nut job is a fringe conspiracy theoriost who helped incite the Capitol insurrection and tried to give aid to those looking to kill the speaker of the house of representatives.

McConnell: Marjorie Taylor Greene's views are a 'cancer' for the GOP

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell on Monday issued a tacit rebuke of controversial Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, slamming the Georgia Republican's "loony lies and conspiracy theories" as a "cancer" for the party.

"Loony lies and conspiracy theories are cancer for the Republican Party and our country," McConnell said in a statement. "Somebody who's suggested that perhaps no airplane hit the Pentagon on 9/11, that horrifying school shootings were pre-staged, and that the Clintons crashed JFK Jr.'s airplane is not living in reality. This has nothing to do with the challenges facing American families or the robust debates on substance that can strengthen our party."

Republican civil war. Heres hope Mitch McConnell's side wins.

Can't believe I am saying that, but ya, go Mitch!

At least he is talking which is a start. He should vote to convict Trump if he is serious

No one saw the planed hit on 9-11?

It’s odd there’s never any evidence shown for a plane in the Pentagon.

The one from Georgia is pretty clearly nuts, the other sounds like it as well if she incited violence, but I'm not sure I'd call either the face of the party. Right now, it's generally faceless, with the exception of mushy mouth Mitch. I think the party could use an intelligent moderate as it's new face.  I think Jon Huntsman would be a good candidate, he seems like a pretty good guy, smart, willing to work across the aisle, and is well versed in international an domestic policy.  Unfortunately, I don't think the @$$holes on the far right would accept a Mormon who gave illegal immigrants driver's licenses, and the @$$holes on the far left wouldn't accept a guy who served as Trump's Russian ambassador due to TDS.

Yep, Grew up in poverty with parents on welfare... If she had different demographics and political party  (actually was dem for several years) she’d be upheld as a national hero. I see examples of these double standards in both directions constantly.

hypocritical sheep. You should be ashamed of yourself for your elitist sneering at someone who grew up through a tough socio-economic status to make something of themselves just because you disagree with their opinions no matter how irrational they may seem.

I realize I hadn't responded to the charge of being an "elitist." So I will now.

I used to enjoy quoting that old (yes, elitist) Republican William F. Buckley: "I'd rather entrust to the government of the United States to the first 400 people listed in the Boston telephone book than to the faculty of Harvard University." It hit on a great truth about the problems created by the social engineering of our so called elite class.

But you know what? Those first 400 people in the phone book (back when such things existed) would now probably include more than a handful of QAnon adherents and Bernie Bros. And I kind of want us, as voters, to exercise some kind of basic qualifications check before we send them to Congress. It's a low bar: (1) have some demonstrated commitment to understanding our system of government; (2) not espouse nutty conspiracy theories. If demanding those two things makes me an elitist, well, then, bring on the elitism.

It isn't about things like academic qualifications. I have a good friend who dropped out of college and has worked in the construction trade for many years. He lives in a very liberal part of the country, and he has very liberal views on almost all issues. I disagree with him on politics most of the time, but enjoy arguing with him because he's remarkably well informed. If he were to run for Congress in his liberal district, I'd be 100% behind him - he represents their views, and represents them honestly and intelligently, and he's always ready to engage in a lively but respectful dialog to defend them.

Which brings me to Lauren Boebert: she's a joke. Her idea of "policy" goes no further than the new "own the libs" jargon and actions. Other than her demonstrated gun fetishism (and I'm not a gun control guy; I just think a lot of this open carry nonsense is silly play acting), she's shown virtually no interest or commitment to understanding policy and the needs of her far flung Colorado district. She doesn't belong in Congress. Period. And by the way, a lot of her raised in poverty as Democrats with their incentive to improve their station in life by the nasty welfare state stuff is crap. Her mother was a registered Republican from the time she moved to Colorado from (you guessed it) Florida when Boebert was about 13. Don't believe every campaign ad you see.

And of course it's even worse with this Marjorie Taylor Greene, who is just demonstrably nuts, as well as being rude and preposterously self-confident in her own stupidity.

So this elitist is embarrassed that these people are in our Congress.

I'm independent.  I vote for the individual and do not vote solely for one party or the other.  But if this is the way the Republican party is going, and if these two are emblematic of the nominees that will be put up by the Republicans, I won't be voting for any Republicans.

Ture republicans values like fiscal conservatism, strong foreign policy, policies that I agreed with,  are being usurped by folks like this.  Sad to see.

In principle I agree with you. But with the Squad and guys like Swallwell and Schipp on the other side of the aisle I’m guessing you’re just going to have to stay home. We’ve collectively elected a three ring circus of incompetence.

Yeah, I wouldn't vote for the fringe on the other side either.  What happened to sanity in our country?

It walked out the door a long time ago but started running for the exit with the advent of social media. Congress has learned that they can get re-elected by simply screaming at each other across the aisle. It’s all a song and dance for the audience. As soon as the lights go off and the microphones are put away they all head out for a steak lunch and drinks with lobbyists. And we, the American people, are being played for fools.

Tell you what.  Let's start a new movement.  We'll flip a coin, winner gets to run for President and the other takes the VP slot.

Two old dudes running things? That’ll never fly! 😉

PS: I’ll take the VP slot. It’s a way easier gig.

To some degree, that was true, as her most fervent supporters saw in the treatment of Greene a reminder of all that they loathed about Washington. But in a congressional district proud of its ranking as one of the most conservative in the country, voters drawn to her unapologetic intensity were now also brushing the limits of their support.

“I think she’s kind of a loose cannon,” Shelton said before paraphrasing a line from the Old Testament: “The wise are the quiet ones,” she said. “The more she opens her mouth, the less evidence of her wisdom.”
