somnus00 Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 I'm hoping he trades down. I'd rather have 3 2nd round picks than a 30th and 60th. We have holes to fill <insert ubiquitous Michael Scott joke here>. I'd like to see CB, OL, and athletic front 7. 1 2

The key is to not get boxed in a specific position......ie. if Running Back is the best value.......go with running back......if linebacker is the best player available.....go there I think Beane is smarter than someone who locks into a specific position. AKA BPA. Like how drafting is supposed to be done.

At pick 30 he will likely find a solid starter that is ready to play soon than an impact player. At least based on my definition of an impact player. You never know. Most of the mock drafts have him still there. In fact most don't have any RBs off the board by our pick so Najee Harris would be there also... Maybe but good guards can be had in the mid rounds. Same with RBs too but when you have a chance to add this type of speed on the field you should probably do it when you are competing with KC. 1 hour ago, FireChans said: Perhaps the worst sales pitch in the history of the NFL draft. Spiller was amazing for 1 year, averaging over 6 YPC and having what seemed like a long highlight reel play every week...that team lacked talent and Spiller lacked instincts to hit the hole to be anything more than a 1 year wonder. If Etienne had that type of impact as his base I would take it in a heartbeat. Edited January 28, 2021 by Big Turk 1

Give me pass rusher, WR or dynamic RB if one is available, dynamic TE if there even is one in the draft, and I've opened up to the idea of a CB. Except he's been known to draft for need. See Cody Ford and Zack Moss last year. If guard is the best player at that spot then we should. Good luck getting a top pass rusher there. Dont need another running back, the guys we have our fine the line just sucks at run blocking. TE would be nice too at 30. 1

He wasn’t the GM but all signs point towards him drafting Zay and dawkins. I’m not claiming to know who drafted him.....just that i don’t know for sure. Beane may have had a lot of influence on the pick, it just can’t be proven because it wouldve been illegal Doug Whaley drafted Peterman and Zay Jones, Beane drafted White, Dawkins, and Milano. Everybody knows this 3

Outside of the top 10 they usually take time to develop even when they do hit. I’m not against an edge player, but it’s be unfair to expect them to walk in the door and get 10 sacks their rookie year. Now, if they manage to nab a top DT in FA or through trade grooming a DE along with Epenesa and Johnson to take over for Hughes and Addison makes sense. Edited January 28, 2021 by Buffalo Junction 1

The panthers then select a WR, Curtis Samuel. then later in the same round, the bills trade up to the pick ahead of Carolina to take OL Dawkins. Carolina selects OL Taylor Moton Pure coincidence 💯 An amazing coincidence. Almost like our newly hired HC used to work there and knew who they may have been targeting.

All I know is.....we don’t know and shouldn’t act like we do know. Think what you want. You do not know this It could have been over beers a couple months earlier that they talked about who they really liked or guys they had questions about. We almost certainly will never know what happened (or didn't) behind the scenes there. All I know for sure is I like how it turned out! 1

Chandler#81 Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 I agree, @John from Riverside, but I think he’ll go with last years’ scheme and use it in a trade pkg to bring in an established Pass rusher. Jmo. Even with Stefon Diggs, he mined gold last Draft and I already see 2nd contracts likely being offered to Bass, AJ, Gabe & prolly Fromm.. How do you get past not seeing and interviewing prospects? Trade the pick. 2

Process Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 There aren't many positions where we couldnt use an upgrade. Outside of QB and maybe S, you could make a case for any position at 30. Should be in a good spot to take BPA. In general I don't like taking RBs or OL in Rd 1 though. I do like the idea of trading down.

I also could see this.....but I am trying to take salary cap ramifications into it......draft picks are on cheap cost controlled contracts. but We should absolutely be in win now mode....... 1
