PrimeTime101 Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 Ok here we go. Every now and then History dictates its presence on the future. #1 vs #2 AFC 2015 Denver#1 20---Patriots#2 18 2013 Denver#1 26---Patriots#2 16 2011 Patriots#1 23---Ravens#2 20 2007 Patriots#1 21---Chargers#2 12 2005 Broncos#1 17---Steelers#2 34 First off notice the rarity of the #1 and #2 team going off against each other which I find interesting in itself. Until you scroll down and see the Steelers Broncos blow out game notice how close they are. Also notice out of the last 5 times only one time has the #2 seed won. Anyhow if you were not nervous enough id give you more food for thought lol
aceman_16 Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 This seems about right...and I would think with the #1 being the only team with a bye to heal up....it will just keep this way.
Boatdrinks Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 A rare #1 vs #2 overall seed matchup. I kinda like your data here. Seems like a #2 seed blowout win on the road is overdue! 1
Real McClappy Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 Some close games up there. Home field def plays a role IMO. 1 minute ago, njbuff said: The Steelers weren't the #2 seed in 2005. Wild card at #6
njbuff Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 In 2004 Pittsburgh was the #1 seed and New England was the #2 seed. New England went into Pittsburgh and whacked them, 41-27 2 1

Devilmann Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 Ok seems there are some errors so time to move on.
Nextmanup Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 So no.1 seed is 4-1 in these games, going back to 2005. 😳

Seems like that was the first time ever a team simply just said, "OK, we aren't even going to try and run the ball, we like our matchups in the passing game" and now the Bills do that routinely... And guess who was the WR coach on that Patriot team?

Pro-football-reference has the Steelers as the #6 seed and the Broncos as the #2 seed in 2005. 2 minutes ago, Nextmanup said: So no.1 seed is 4-1 in these games, going back to 2005. 😳 Except there seem to be some errors
njbuff Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 Since 1980......... #2's that beat #1's........... 86 Broncos over Cleveland 94 Chargers over Steelers 01 Patriots over Steelers 04 Patriots over Steelers again 6 minutes ago, Big Turk said: Wasn't that the game that Brady just dropped back and passed almost every play and Pittsburgh seemed almost helpless on defense to stop them? I remember a regular season game against a run-stingy Vikings team where something like their first 34 plays were passes.

Yeah I know they did but I seem to remember that was kind of maybe the first time they unveiled it and it took the announcers by shock doing the game.
billsfan1959 Posted January 24, 2021 Posted January 24, 2021 (edited) Weren't the Chiefs the last #1 seed to lose to a #2 seed in the AFC in 2018? Edited January 24, 2021 by billsfan1959
