Never a doubt on this one. I can't even think of another in the same stratosphere in this instance.

Mayfield improved a lot (but had much further to go and didn’t get as far)

If Mayfield wasn't he should have been. Only thing that hurts Mayfield on an award like this is he had a good rookie year so it wasn't a steady upward tick.

Because Darnold improved less, does this mean Bayliss still thinks Darnold > Allen? 🤔

I think he's moved to he would take Baker over Allen now...

Mayfield basically just cut down on his INT's. His other stats are basically on par with his other two seasons. Because he wasn't turning the ball over as much Cleveland had a more successful season. He still doesn't do anything that really wows you, unless you're a paid sports analyst who is also a known OU homer in Skip Bayless. His yards, completion %, TD's are all average QB numbers. He didn't have to carry the offense like Allen and surely didn't make anywhere near the same kind of leap forward.

Something tells me this award will piss JA off. He feels like he deserves his moment. "Most Improved" feels like a participation trophy.

I agree with that, but to Bakers credit he isn't the reason they lose games usually. Would I ever consider him elite? Not a chance.

He isn't trash by no means though.

No, I wouldn't say he is trash either. They can be successful with him as long as he plays smart. I mean shoot, Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Joe Flacco, and Jeff Hostetler all have SB rings without really being special. But Allen is special and we are watching him become great before our very eyes. He was truly deserving of this accolade.

I don't get the Baker hype. He is OK, he'll be a top half starter but always sit at the bottom of top 10 or just outside. He won't be nearly as good as Stafford but better than Jeff Garcia. Who ever the douchier version of a QB that falls in that spectrum, that is Baker Mayfield.

Gets more fame for his persona than his game... trying to think of a corollary.

There wasn’t a close second.

Well when you consider Alex Smith went from not playing football due to being injured so badly to being starter maybe some close competition.

Alex got the comeback player of the year award from PFWA.
