4merper4mer Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 I assume many of you watched The Sopranos. I think most people would say Gandolfini gave the best performance in that series, but let’s leave him out for this thread. Who do you think played their character best in that series? Quote
4merper4mer Posted January 19, 2021 Author Posted January 19, 2021 There aren’t many bad choices but IMO the guy who played Johnny Sack knocked it out of the park. 2 Quote
Wacka Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 (edited) Paulie didn't have to act much/He spent 7 years in the can in his 20s I believe. Edited January 19, 2021 by Wacka Quote
Frat-Train Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 Joe Pantiliano as Ralph, in my opinion. No question. He’s a scene stealer in most movies but he was outstanding in his brief time. 1 Quote

EmotionallyUnstable Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 Terrible acting. Great show. 1 Quote
Royale with Cheese Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 I thought the show was overacting the NY/NJ Mob stereotype. I thought the show was okay, not great. The best acting in that show was Edie Falco. 1 Quote
Nextmanup Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 One of the best TV shows of all time; it was filled with good acting. Best of the entire show for me was Edie Falco. Then Gandolfini. Then Lorraine Bracco. Michael Imperioli was solid, I LOVED Tony Sirico (Paulie Walnuts), Dominic Chianese (Uncle Jr.) was great, Aida Turturro....they were all solid. 1 Quote
Johnny Hammersticks Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 Pauly Walnuts!! Bobby Baccala was good role too. Well portrayed. Quote
May Day 10 Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 I didn't really dig the sopranos after season 2. As far as acting performances, Gandolfini killed it. Christopher was really well done. Lots of the main characters seemed to be a bit over the top on the acting/writing Quote

Nextmanup Posted January 21, 2021 Posted January 21, 2021 (edited) Tony Sirico (Paulie Walnuts) was on Larry King Live many years ago. Larry asked a question...something like if it was true that Tony Sirico had been convicted of a crime, much like the character he portrayed in the show. Tony's response was an all-time classic. He said, almost proudly and defiantly: "Yeah, I did time." His facial expression and the way he spoke were basically indistinguishable from the character Paulie. Which made me wonder how much "acting" he was doing on the show and how much of it was just himself being himself. LOL PS: The scene where Paulie drove around on Christopher's newly landscaped front lawn had me in tears with laughter; as loud as I've ever laughed watching TV or a movie.
