BrooklynBills Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 Heard through the grapevine that he wasn't interested in the LA job (ownership/facilities/overall commitment). Makes some sense. Herbert aside, no one would consider them a top tier organization or ownership group. Plus, you gotta play Mahomes twice a year. Don't know about the other jobs but he's a young successful offensive coach. Gase got 2 jobs. Mcdaniels is getting another chance. He can ride this season to a better overall job than what's available IMO right now. Just hold serve with the offense and he'll be in the coaching carousel for a while. Frazier, on the hand, might not get another shot and if he wants to be a HC probably can't pass up the Houston job if offered. 1

Tight end on the other hand, you help the running game, the short passing game, opens up the offense, etc. Like @GunnerBill I agree........a top TE would be great. A modestly talented one who needs development is almost as bad as drafting a RB in round 1 though so you really need a guy you are pretty certain will nail it. I haven't done any work on arranging the TE prospects but right now the draftniks don't have any of those on radar except Pitts........who is obvious(but even the obvious move TE1's sometimes turn into journeyman). If you can't get a special one then draft them where they are usually found.........middle rounds and hope you get a Kelce or Kittle with the next one. Knox is a top athlete but he is just so unnatural catching the football that his ceiling seems low. 2
scuba guy Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 Happy days are here again Until the boards implodes for not running the ball 1
BearNorth Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 Daboll endured the Franciscan brothers in Athol Springs, and has also worked for Jimmie Laycock [coach of both Tomlin and McDermott], Saban x2; The Hoodie x2, and Crennel who is a quality guy. Not a bad set of coaching trees. He has worked for the best in both college and the pros, he knows his day will come.

(pass rushing End / and a HUGE SPACE EATER) Offense a monster guard would be nice and it would not surprise me to see them go after a center either. we are pretty set at everything else on Offense (Williams might be the physical runner we are looking for next year). Defense needs some work and some personal tweaking. Is Star + a healthier Horrible Harry that far gone that we need another space eater? To quote Joni Mitchell "Ya don't know what ya got til it's gone". Edited January 18, 2021 by BearNorth
John from Riverside Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 Smart of him not to take a job that was sure to get him fired Now we need to concentrate on keeping the assistants under him in place.....like Chad Hall and the QB coach

AdrianW Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 Josh Allen said in interviews that he's so glad he was drafted by such a well ran organisation that wanted him and helped him grow while enhancing his strengths and slowly built a team around him. And i think he sees a polar opposite club through his buddy Sam Darnolds eyes, a huge market dysfunctional franchise like the Jets and it makes him appreciate Buffalo more than ever with stability and continuity. With Daboll staying that's a load off the players backs and they don't have to worry and can fully concentrate on healing this week and stopping Andy Reids offense.

Golden*Wheels Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 Good. Now go rip those designed QB run pages out of his playbook.
Cheektowaga Chad Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 Anyone think he might go the collegiate route as head coach or is he looking to be an nfl head coach only?

IMO Daboll never gets enough credit for seamlessly transitioning the offense to match the quarterback. Hurts/RPO in the first half, Tua/NFL style the second half. Pretty amazing to me. 2
Southern_Bills Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 I would think he wants to remain in pro ball. In college recruiting is everything and he doesn't have much experience on that, Alabama is easy to recruit at. Just my thought but I could be wrong.
TFBillsfan Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 Excited to keep the continuity in place. No doubt with another season like this, we will lose him in 2022. However, it’s so satisfying to have a franchise that is trending UP in every category. Not having to talk about who the next coach is going to be, mock draft predictions starting in week 10, will the Bills stay in Buffalo, who will be the QB, will we have one prime time game, etc. All those things are in the rear view mirror! This team, this season has a realistic chance at winning the whole damn thing. Daboll’s only focus now is on beating the Chiefs! LETS GO BUFFALO! 1

Nick the Greek Posted January 18, 2021 Posted January 18, 2021 I thought he’d be a great fit with the Chargers to develop that young QB. Instead, they roll with a defensive minded coach. I don’t know if I agree with that move. that said, at the end of the day I’m happy he’s still in Buffalo.
