One of the better lines in the first article.....

"Any hope that the game would resemble the last six weeks of the regular season—the best stretch in Bills history that I can recall, in which the team went 6-0 and outscored teams 229-110—evaporated quickly. Instead, the game turned into an existential crisis; fans were to be led through the seven circles of Bills hell, with Josh Allen serving as our Virgil."

Well not OUR @Virgil but you get the idea......

Fun fact, the original spelling was Vergil but adapted over the years.  Also, 50% of my screen name comes from that very reference.  I use the Virgil spelling because of the other 50% reason

Best part about the first article

“On Saturday night, Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens come to Orchard Park. It won’t be a matchup between a winning franchise and a team trying to reverse decades of bad vibes. It’s just going to be a game between two great teams trying to win a Super Bowl.

It’s just going to be a game.”

I don’t think fans of teams other than Cleveland or Buffalo can fully understand that. Such a relief

Yes, one demon was exorcised last Saturday (25 years).  There's another one still facing the Bills.....

How about this: I was a fan of Simmons, but he's gotten lazy. He was a damn good humor writer whose topic happened to be sports. And he was knowledgeable too.

He basically doesn't write anymore, and not all of his Ringer writers are especially good. And Simmons' podcasts are just plain lazy. Why spend time at a keyboard when you can just shoot the breeze for an hour and Spotify will offer to pay you $100 million?

Still some good articles though ... including these.

And come on, that avatar resembles a Virgil a whole lot more than Vergil. Or at least what I think Vergil probably looked like.

He puts out a lot of content and pop culture is great.  Some very intelligent writers.

I wish I could do 4-5 podcasts a week for that coin.

Sorry to disagree.

The Ringer is great. They have excellent writers.

That 1st article about the Colts game - I mean, everything he wrote are things that I'm sure we all felt.  On that last hail mary, it DID feel like the camera was focused on the ball for a few minutes, to the point of forgetting anyone was on the field.  And it did conjure up the AZ game.

That article encapsulated why I love being a Bills fan so much.  It's such a unique shared experience.  I travel a lot, and when I see someone wearing Bills gear, it's like they're a brother or sister.  Depending on the situation, there is sometimes a hug involved. With a complete stranger. It's not like that with my other sports loyalties.

And one thing I think is important to remember:  no one on this Bills team has that shared experience with us.  Nor does the coaching.  And that's a good thing - they're just looking at these as games. They're not carrying all of the crazy, doom-y baggage that we do.

Agreed. I still listen to his guess the lines podcast with Cousin Sal.  Some good humor and gambling takes on there.  I stop listening once they hit parent corner though.

Great on the NBA and can listen (not always agree) any podcast he does.
