You seem like a rationally poster in most other threads but I’m not going to respond to someone who believes all that.  There’s another message board for that.

This is why we can’t have nice things. Nothing happens in a vacuum, and what comes before matters as to what happens after.

I even showed my softer side and didn’t mention how the liberal left and Dems in general sat cheering wildly while reigning VP Kam Harris played Commodus attempted to eviscerate Judge Kavanaugh.  Her payoff was the number 2 seat in the world.

What we learned is that rage and rioting in the streets with the political left encouraging death and destruction is what passes for noble when it’s politically expedient and convenient on the left.

Besides, my version was just a fanciful reimagining of the days after  the vote was Barracked.

That's downplaying it.  The purpose of impeachment for Trump is to prevent some rogue president from doing something similar in the future.  It's to safeguard and strengthen our democracy.

Let's say Obama lost reelection to Romney and refused to accept the results of the election.  He immediately started spreading disinformation for months to his supporters that it was "stolen" from him without any evidence that could past muster in court.  He then used his cult of personality to encourage his most fanatical followers to march to the capital building to "stop the steal" where results of the election were about to be certified.  Five people die and one of our most recognizable buildings in our great democracy was defaced.  I'd want him impeached asap.  That's something that just can't be brushed aside.  Without Trump's rhetoric and gaslighting it wouldn't have happened.  Period.

45 of 50 GOP Senators agree with the position the Trump impeachment trial in the Senate is unconstitutional.  On the grounds Article I Section 3 of the Constitution providing Impeachment powers to the Senate applies only to a sitting President.  Assuming with 100% certainty all 50 Democratic Senators vote "yes" on impeachment they'll need 12 of those 45 to vote "yes" too.  Does anyone believe 12 GOP Senators that concluded the trial is not "legal" will vote to impeach?  So this is going to the same place the 1st impeachment went which is to defeat.

On top of this proving a charge of Inciting Insurrection is difficult.  It implies some direct control or instructions or command.  Legal case study shows courts hold the burden of proof to the highest standards.  Convictions are extremely difficult.  In this case some highly subjective interpretations of insurrection are cited as "evidence".  This case is flimsy at best and perhaps completely absent.  This charge will go absolutely nowhere.  Much to the displeasure of the left Trump is likely to escape once again.  When this happens, queue the obligatory protests, outrage, and calls for Constitutional changes.

Is this different than when Hillary went around calling Trump illegitimate for the last four years...or did you just conveniently skip over that form of sedition and insurrection?

How many people died at the Capitol when Hillary publicly conceded the day after the election in 2016?

No they didn't. The vote was on whether or not to have a separate hearing to settle the question of Constitutionality.

Republicans used this argument during the first impeachment that other things need to get done.

Democrats have done a pretty good job of filling the cabinet and setting up reconciliation during this entire impeachment process. It’s not like they can’t do more than one thing at once.

Of course they do out of fear of having their political lives destroyed.  My hunch is if they did a secret ballot he'd be convicted just based off Liz Cheney retaining her seat in the House.  It's not a criminal trial so the high standards of "proving a charge of inciting insurrection" isn't required to convict.

There's no way in hell he's not being acquitted but having a majority of Senators (including a few Republicans) vote to have him convicted will hopefully send a message to future president's (and the American public) about the importance of the peaceful transition of power.  I don't want another January 5th scene (or worse) as those pictures have been disseminated throughout the world making us look like a freaking banana republic.

It just wasn’t January 6 - Trump has been inciting every day the past four years.

The media has been complicit as well, only showing black people getting arrested/shot by the police as much as they can.

You still didn’t answer the question. Why is that?
