Miyagi-Do Karate Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 Would Now be the appropriate time for the weekly inquiry into whether Christian Wade can be called up? 3 4 1

The Colts defense's strength is the run game and their secondary is weak so I would expect our WRs will be busy this week. True. Plus If anyone were to get called up, I'd hope it would be Yeldon for the screen game. He was productive in what little he was given this year.

Alphadawg7 Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 He looked good in his limited reps against the Fins...no doubt. But I have seen a lot of bad players look good in one part of one game. Not saying he is a bad player, just saying this proves little about him and I just don't see our staff taking snaps away from Devin and Moss for him right now. That being said, sure its possible he could be active, but if so, I doubt he sees many reps, if any at all, unless its a blow out. Me personally...I am super curious about the kid. Wouldn't mind seeing him get some reps here and there, just don't think it's the wisest decision to do so with a guy who less than a half of a games worth or reps experience heading into the playoffs either. MOST importantly, its about both pass protection assignments and ball security. Hard to trust a PS rookie in our first playoff game with those things to really give him snaps over Devin and Moss. Especially since both have shown to be effective in their respective roles when we do use them. 2
Orlando Buffalo Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 Only if Moss or Singletary are injured.
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 If your title had just said "Does Williams get activated for the playoffs", you'd have been spot on!

He isn't fast, he doesn't really break tackles. He is descent in space I will give him that. True that he is averaging 4.4, but I do think that is a bit flawed since he doesn't get many 3rd and short carries (which would bring down his YPC), and he only has a total of 156 attempts on the year. This is where I’m at with him, he can make you miss in a phone booth, but isn’t fast enough to get out the door before you tackle him. To me, he’s a fringe player at best and a wasted 3rd round pick. 1

He was really really good In the playoff game last year. Singletary has been uninspiring this year at best. Moss should see the bulk of the action, I’m not sure what the obsession with Singletary, he’s a fringe NFL player who’s only value is in small uses. 1

We have two 3rd rounds picks at RB who do their job and support a record breaking past first offense. AW great story vs Miami but our two backs will help lead this team. Both will contribute in the playoffs. Edited January 9, 2021 by QLBillsFan
Man with No Name Posted January 9, 2021 Posted January 9, 2021 Remember when Tim Tindale looked like a pro bowler for 1 quarter vs the fins? THE CANADIAN COMET! 1
Doc Posted January 9, 2021 Posted January 9, 2021 I don't want a rookie tasked with blitz pickups if there are other options.

I love the dude, I think he’s quality, but I don’t think we miss much by bringing in McKenzie rather than a KR/PR specialist. I don’t have an opinion on it in reality. The sample size was just so small against a team that gave up. But it seems like we have times where we really struggle to run the ball in the early and mid parts of games. AW seemed to be a glimpse of part of that fix. I just don’t know if that’s a mirage.
TheBrownBear Posted January 9, 2021 Posted January 9, 2021 If it ain't broke, don't fix it. And the Bills offense ain't broke. 1
Wroc Hester Posted January 10, 2021 Posted January 10, 2021 Soooo... now that Moss appears to be out for some time, who takes his place? AW? TJ Yeldon? I'm okay with either one. TJ is a great receiving back and AW could be lightening in a bottle, if only for the playoffs.
Captain Caveman Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 (edited) I wonder if we might see him AND Yeldon activated this week, and have Taiwan Jones sit. I read somewhere that Antonio Williams was his team's MVP on special teams in College, so seems like ST shouldn't suffer too much even though Taiwan Jones is great there. Coach McDermott -- please do not bench our top gunner on kick coverage for a back-up running back. Thanks.
Orlando Buffalo Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 Williams ran well but we don't know how well he picks up blitzes or if he can catch out of the backfield. I think our " running" game will be mostly short passes out in the flat to slow the Ravens pass rush

I'm sure he won't if he feels there is a big drop off. I'm just saying that may not be the case given his history in College.

All things being equal, the surest hands against multiple-men tackles will play.
