JMF2006 Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Kind of under whelming after all the build up Maybe all the WNY Bills season ticket holders will get discounts on their health insurance as part of the package
BearNorth Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Apparently Highmark has actually laid off some former BC/BS of WNY employees, but they have money for naming rights?

The concept of a not-for-profit entity blowing policy holder premium cash on something this trivial should be a problem for everyone. It's not a company that does business in NYS, so it can't even really be considered a marketing move by them. 1

There are many things you can call Dave Portnoy, but liar isn't one of them. Why wouldn't he try for naming rights? Wouldn't that get his company more publicity? Just kind of a weird take.

papazoid Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 most businesses advertise.....this is an advertising expense.....the negative not for profit arguments ring hollow for me. the high cost of health insurance is complex and has very little to do with an advertising budget. the name Highmark.....is not well known.....they are primarily a PA company trying to expand......all the more reason for them to grab the naming rights to build their brand. so my initial reaction as a bills fan is....YAWN....uninspiring ...no pizazz.....extending the full name out makes it worse. i guarantee i wont be referring to the bills stadium as highmark stadium. my out of town family members are already texting me unflattering remarks.

I don't want to come off as a fanboy but I'd really like to know examples of him lying for self promotion. Main reason why I do like him is how blatantly honest he is, even if it makes him look like an #######.

CuseBill Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 I'm going to call it "Medicare For All" Stadium, or "MaFiA" Stadium. 1

So to flip it around, why will you only call it Rich Stadium or Ralph Wilson Stadium if the name doesn’t matter to you?

Not all of their entities are "not for profit". And some of them that are still raise eyebrows! Blue Cross Blue Shield Association - Wikipedia "While only some members retain nonprofit status, the ones that do have been criticized for holding excessive amounts of cash or excessive executive compensation. In 2014, BC/BS of Illinois (Health Care Service Corporation) was sued over its nonprofit status, with the lawsuit dismissed with prejudice and the ruling upheld on appeal.[25] Similar suits occurred with similar results in other states such as Oregon.[26]"
papazoid Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 you going to the game ? where you tailgating at ? in most conversations about the bills.....saying the proper name of the stadium is hardly mentioned 9 out of 10 times...."the stadium" is used 1
