oldmanfan Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 (edited) For Trump supporters, you must realize he will never be elected president again. The reason he won in 2016 is because the Democrats ran the one person against him who created more negative emotions in the public than he did. If they had run anyone else he would have lost. And why would you want to support him again? During his 4 years in office he succeeded in losing control of the House, Senate, and the Oval Office to the Democratic Party. Save your arguments about fraud and such because those arguments are disproven. There are plenty of Republicans to support for President in 2024 that would support policies that should be attractive to Trump supporters, actual conservatives. Yet there are many who want to split off from the GOP and follow Trump? Why? You must realize that in doing so the vast majority of folks like me, independents who look at the person and not party per se in voting, will never be able to support Trump or the type of candidate he’d support. You must realize that if you put people up for office like this Greene woman, the Q Anon supporter, you will never get back Congress or the White House. Rational moderate voters, of which there are many, will never vote for such individuals. You saw this a decade ago with folks like Murdoch and Akin running for Senate, absolute kooks who got trounced. Why would you want to make that mistake again? Your slavish devotion to this guy is impossible for me to understand. You will lose; he’s proven that. Throw the hand In now before you lose even bigger. Edited February 23, 2021 by oldmanfan 2
716er Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 Trump lost. Time for his fans to turn the page and not cry when the media reports on him. 1

They decided to create their own “Bills” site so they could continue to advance QAnon. in the beginning - everyone who joined the site had access to all parts... but then when the election went the other way - and they saw all of their QAnon related scripture go down the drain - they couldn’t face the music and kicked off anyone who didn’t kneel before DQT. I’m done w this conversation. Doubt it, Trump is hard wired in there.

Even in spite of the obvious eternal love between Jack and Rose in Titanic—when Jack froze solid like a popsicle, she cut him loose, shoved his carcass on its way to Dave’s Jones locker and blew that whistle. It’s time for him to blow that whistle but he doesn’t seem to know how. I suppose BillStime’s heart is just a deep ocean.

It was a throw the bums out year and they ran THE MOST establishment person with gobs and gobs of baggage. And then as the released emails showed, Wasserman and her crew ran a crooked primary and screwed Bernie to make sure Hillary won. For this reason I believe Democrats should step up and shoulder some of the blame for Trump winning. Maybe 25% or so.

Lol...the only ones going on and on about Trump is the left side... honestly I hate to break this to you, it's not that folks on the right are crazy over Trump, they really just don't like socialist/communist/liberal kooks. Trump triggered those guys, we cheered him for it.

Romney says if he decides to run again he’ll be the nominee. I’m independent, lean conservative on certain things especially fiscal issues. The infatuation with Trump has nothing to do with being conservative or right wing. It is worshipping a guy who lost the legislative and executive branches for Republicans, and who will never pull enough votes from Independents, moderate Republicans, and conservatives (who understand what the word means) to win another election. This continued worship basically assures the Republicans loss. 1 1

Trump ran on a populist message but never really delivered on any of his promises or stated objectives for the people forgotten by the Democratic party a couple decades ago and never really represented by the core of the Republican party. That's working people, people that mind their business and do their jobs, small business people, fly over state citizens. People that hold what liberals view as quaint and outdated views, people that are tired of being blamed for all the ills of society. His other message was that of a swamp infested Washington federal government. A government more concerned with its own needs and power than serving the citizens that put them there, intelligence services spying on their own citizens. An unaccountable government out of control. Watching the Democrats 2021 vengence and revenge tour just confirms and reinforces these beliefs in the 75 million voters. The left is simply a political cast of sore winners that seems to revel in punishing their opponents. So much for the voices of reconciliation and coming together. All this will not be forgotten nor will it be forgiven when the tables turn. What is the saying on how to treat the people you meet on the way up and why? But I don't see Trump running again for the top job. What I do expect is some other leader or leaders that will present themselves as a more polished and refined version of Trump appearing on the scenes. And the realization that to defeat and drain the swamp you need to come at them from all angles. So expect lots of candidates at all state, local, and federal levels to begin appearing on ballots in most States. Winning just the presidency isn't enough. Edited February 26, 2021 by All_Pro_Bills

I would disagree with your view of the left as much as I disagree with Trump followers being truly the right. It is no small coincidence that the Democrats took back the House in 2018 because they had more moderate House candidates going up against Trump supporters. And that they won back the Presidency with Biden. There are some loud very left wing folks in the Democratic Party but they do not control the party. Peloton is left wing but not radically so; she is a pragmatist. And if it were a far left wing candidate like AOC running against a rational Republican no question who I vote for. But referring again to recent data, supposedly over 70% of Republicans want Trump. I presume they will back whomever he backs in Congressional and Senate races, and presuming they would spew the same craziness Trump does they will lose. I hope Republicans heed your word and don’t let Trump run again. But how many people have to run to Florida to kiss his ring to suggest that won’t happen?

I disagree with your disagreement of my assessment of the left (if that sentence makes sense!). Frankly, I see them as a very real threat to our freedoms and rights. I see big government led by the Democrats, media, big tech and intelligence agencies working in cooperation and coordination to shut down any ideas or discussions or opposition to any of their views. Fact checkers, sensors, all kinds of methods to suppress what I consider essential acceptance of diverse views and opinions feeding into an environment where critical thinking and intelligent expression and free exchange of ideas are healthy. For example, I may not agree with everything or anything other posters have to say here but I support their right to speak their mind and respect them for stating their views. After all, why should I assume I am right about everything and others are always wrong? But that's the essential argument of the sensors, that they know better than anyone else what the absolute truth is about everything. And other voices should not be allowed to speak for whatever rationale they decide to apply. The current political and social environment is not healthy. Its a sign of a sick society. 1

Shakespeare would say: me thinks you protest too much. I do not ever see our country devolving into the extreme, either on the left or the right. I agree with a healthy exchange of ideas. But ideas and opinions have to be based on a shared group of facts. When you have people sharing incendiary threatening views based on fantasies and not reality that is not healthy. Who decides what the shared facts are? Our addiction to the internet puts this decision in the hands of Facebook and Twitter for a large part of our country. That scares the hell out of me. And it should scare you too.

Our addiction to the internet puts this decision in the hands of Facebook and Twitter for a large part of our country. That scares the hell out of me. And it should scare you too. It does. I'm a scientist; I believe in things like facts and data. It is astounding how many people in this country cannot separate fact from opinion, and you rightfully target social media as a main cause. During the pandemic I have participated in my town's local social media site, primarily to stand up for science. And the number of people who make ridiculous claims that the virus is a hoax, or that vaccines have little green men in them or other such nonsense, and then refuse to acknowledge actual scientific facts about how viruses replicate and such, is beyond ridiculous. Historians may very well look back at this time and conclude social media almost destroyed society, if it does not actually do so. 1 1

You keep trying to label anyone who doesn’t fall in line with Trump as a liberal Democrat. It’s precisely that approach that dooms Republicans for the near future. 2
