LabattBlue Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 Cam is out of the NFL after this weekend. He is done as a starter, and IMO he would not be a good backup/mentor to a young QB.
Sweats Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 Never liked him at Auburn and hated him more in the NFL 1
HereComesTheReignAgain Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 “Mentally tough SOBs” don’t need to tell people they are mentally tough. You just know by how they conduct themselves. Cam is a shining example of someone trying to convince himself and others that he is tough and good through talk as opposed to his actions. I would want absolutely nothing to do with Cam on the Bills. 1
JoshAllenReceipts Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 Most Overrated QB in NFL History and there isn't even a close 2nd. This is undisputable fact.

I will give him that he has got somewhat better over the years, but likely because he and the team got better. Do recall seeing it surface after his fumble in the first Bills game. That is one thing that does scare me about Allen as he and Cam are almost identical in size, will Allen also suffer the same fate in about 10 years? I do feel the one thing Allen has going for him is that the Bills are asking him to rush much less now and instead win with his arm. Cam was never really asked much to do this either because his arm/mechanics wasn't good enough, or he didn't have as strong a team around him to realistically expect him to do that. Funny too in 2016 and 2017, Cam's completion percentage was 52.9 and 59.1%, just about the same as Allen's first two seasons which everyone ripped him for and stated he's a bust. I was a little surprised to see that Josh ran the ball 109 times last year and 100 times this year. Now that he's shown himself to be an elite passer I'd really like to see this number drop off in 2021.

Honestly hope Cam grows up because his biggest problem is his immaturity. For the record, Bill wears jeans and Patriots gear everyday because he doesnt spend time worrying about how he looks, because grown men dont do that on a daily. Maybe spend less time worrying about your "steez" and more time trying to get to your kids birthday parties. No football related excuse for him missing his kids birthdays? So, you know the Patriots practice schedules? You know the various travel problems he might have encountered getting from his place to his kids place? You know whether he might have a relative at home with a pre-existing health condition of some kind, and what doctors might have told him about whether he could possibly catch the new strain even though he's had the old one? Sorry, man, assuming there's no reason for him to miss an event when all the info you have is their game schedules, is acting on info that goes way way beyond incomplete. And the thing about grown men is that some care what they wear and some don't and when you pick through any list of people who are wildly successful, you'll find plenty of both. I didn't like the guy much early in his career either. But in New England he's really bought into their attempt to win through team-first ball and attitude. I'm a lot happier to see him losing there than winning, and his throwing has gone to hell, but he's been a good guy there from what I can see. Edited January 1, 2021 by Thurman#1 1
Nitro Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 Newton has had bad mechanics. He has really never improved. Now time and injury are exposing him. He is back up talent now.

What I'd like to see is him slide/go OOB and not take hits when he does run. 1

His YPC did go down so this may indicate he's already getting better at this or that there are fewer designed runs and more scrambles to get a few yards out of a busted play. 1

What in the world is wrong with a word of anything he said? Nothing. He's not throwing anyone under the bus, he's not blaming anyone else. He's just saying it's been a tough year. Fair enough you don't want him near us. I don't either unless they fix his mechanics somehow. But what he said there was all just fine. You make a good point, there isn’t anything inherently bad about what he said. It’s just one more in a long list of examples of his “woah is me” attitude. The guy always comes across as feeling sorry for himself when he’s been in the most privileged position in sports.

Do feel his runs this year were less contested in that he wasn't hit as much. He was mainly running when no one near him to take hits. Sacked much less too, down from 38 to 25 so less hits there too.
Mr. WEO Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 1 hour ago, RunTheBall said: there has been some discussion that Cam might be an option for backup QB for us next season. Oh? Not really. Anyway, this guy was the most corrupt player to come out of the college football sausage maker. In the end, it was not his body that failed him, it was his low IQ. 1
dave mcbride Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 1 hour ago, BuffaloRebound said: Bottom line is he’s not good. Teams can put up with the craziness if he’s performing. He never made the transition to a pocket QB. He still thought he was more power running back than QB. Josh would’ve suffered same fate but his transformation this year into a passing QB has been almost miraculous. Cam never thought he had to change. The MVP and super bowl appearance were fool’s gold. This is simply false. In 2018, through the first 8 games, he was one of the best QBs in the league, and particularly from the pocket. The Panthers were 6-2 and he had 15 TD passes and 4 INTs. He was on pace for a second MVP season. He then injured his rotator cuff and was never the same. It is quite literally the worst injury a QB can suffer.
wjag Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 Mentally tough or mentally shot or physically hurt? There is something wrong with his arm. There is no way a prior MVP QB sends that many balls into the turf. Could it be where the 2nd baseman can no longer throw a ball to the first baseman, i.e., in his head? Or could it be, there is something broken in his arm/shoulder?

What we DO know is he’s a self-centered jag off who’s lost all skills to play football. Ergo, of course he’s towing the company line. Desperate NE* was the ONLY team who came calling with a lower than vet minimum mockery of a contract -and he’s lived down to it. 🤣 1

As a rookie that was the case. This year he’s gotten probably average NFL QB protection. And that one flag against the Rams where they had to protect the defense from Josh. 1
Don Otreply Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 Cam never matured all the way, the fumble moment says it all, he has never recovered from it. As to Cams career, put a fork in it... it’s done... 1
