Big Turk Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 Certainly explains his impressive moves when he grabbed that fumble!! 4) Jerry Hughes was crouched down and had his back turned to the end zone when he scooped up Lock's fumble at the Broncos' 22-yard-line in the second half. He ran four yards the wrong way before he gathered himself and evaded at least six defenders en route to the most exciting scoop and score of the season. Hughes isn't your typical defensive end, so it makes sense that his "big guy" touchdown was unique. As NFL Network's James Palmer noted, Hughes was a first-team All-District selection at running back and kick returner in high school, rushing for 1,412 yards and 19 touchdowns. His exceptional play gave the Bills a commanding 35-13 lead in the third quarter, ultimately burying a Broncos team that had rallied before halftime to trail by eight. The joke was made that perhaps Buffalo should give Hughes a look in its backfield. The run game remains a legitimate nitpick for its dynamic offense. Allen was leading the team in rushing -- with a mere 33 yards -- until Devin Singletary's 51-yard TD run with two minutes remaining. As good as he is, the Bills might be asking a bit too much of their QB. https://www.nfl.com/news/what-we-learned-from-saturday-s-week-15-nfl-doubleheader 3 1
Artem Lipatov Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 He can be our power back . It’s upgrade over Moss )) 1 1
Saxum Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 He can do the Kyle role in North Cuba game this year. 1
Don Otreply Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 I’m certain he can knock over a few guys at will 😁
Saxum Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 The Bills do like players who can play multiple roles.
Peter Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 He certainly looked like a running back the way he returned that for a TD (except for the way he held the ball 😀). Great play by Jerry!

NFL.com needs to check their work a bit better. Though Singletary’s run was pretty exciting too! 3 1
Nextmanup Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 I would love for someone to dig up how many current Bills players were QUARTERBACKS on their HS teams. There is so much talent out on the NFL field, half these guys were playing key positions at the HS level. Would also be interested to see how many players played BOTH sides of the ball in HS! 1
Jerome007 Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 He sure made the most of his opportunity. I expected a fumble, not a TD ha ha. So it was even better!

BADOLBILZ Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 It's been discussed a few times here over the years.........mainly every time he handles the football. He has brought up his RB past with the media many times and has said he has lobbied the coaching staffs for RB carries over the years. He is a prime example of what I've said here so many times...........a lot of the guys who would have been RB's in the NFL of old switched to better paying positions. It was the right move for Hughes....he has made more money with a long career as a modestly accomplished pass rusher than he probably would have made if he had become even a stud RB.

RyanC883 Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 I'd like to see Hughes on a short yard run. He looked really quick and had some good moves. May be valuable on 2nd or 3rd and one. 1
mannc Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 Not surprising. All these guys were dominant HS athletes. The way to win HS games is to give the ball to a great athlete, if you’ve got one, which is why so many of them played QB or RB, regardless what position they play now.

The article states that Allen led the Bills in rushing but I think by that point Moss had about 70 yards so he's wrong, I think. Anyway, AFCE Champs! 1

JimKellyTryouts Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 If not this year, I'd like to see him get a goal-line rush like Kyle had before he hangs it up.
machine gun kelly Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 This was brought up both in his arrow up and down article by Sal, as well as they had a Sunday special show today. He discussed it there as well. Thanks for the article.
