Why would you want Josh to throw it to Lee Smith? It would take Lee over an hour to reach the end zone.

The interesting thing about that throw, I think, is that Allen may have wanted it back the minute he released it.

His body language, especially from the end zone head on view, shows him having an "oh no" moment.

You can see it in the video in this thread, but its more obvious in the head on.

I agree with Sal C on WGR....Allen probably thought Smith would stay in since they were in max protect.  He didn't think Smith would release.  

 

If he had gone to Lee Smith, then he wouldn't have had that highlight reel throw to Gabe Davis that the entire nation saw....and this was their reaction.
