Tds is a good point.  But there is no question the monumental impact Diggs had on this offense.

think about when the Pats got Moss. It was steroids for Brady.  They need a separate award then because the impact Diggs has had our offense is a big of any player this year.

Diggs is on pace for a little under 1450 yards receiving. A good total no doubt, but not the type of total that would put him in MVP conversations...

Also, he isn't even the MVP on his own team, so how could he be MVP of the NFL?

Allen is unquestionably the MVP of the Bills and for as great as Diggs has been it isn't even close.

Do you think Diggs or Allen has been more valuable to the offense?

When we traded for Diggs, he was a good player who suddenly became Jerry Rice.  It seemed like Bills fans began completely overrating him. But the guy has been nothing short of awesome. Averaging 15 yards/ game more than any season in his career.  Our passing offense has gone from 201 yards (7th worst) to  278 yards/ game (4th best). Obviously, Allen deserves a ton of credit but basically the only major difference is Diggs. Additionally, Beasley is having a career season.

I know only QBs can win now but the impact of Diggs on this offense seems to be MVP caliber.  He also has been a great teammate and seems to be genuinely happy to be a Bill.

side note, is this trade the most win-win in nfl history? We get a stud and Minnesota gets a stud replacement.  We should do business again with them.

While we could have taken Justin Jefferson - younger/cheaper/etc; I would do this trade again in a heartbeat!

He thinks Diggs is an MVP candidate...

I just want him to put it out there that he thinks Diggs has been more important to the offense than Allen. Or if he knows Allen has been more valuable, then he answered his own question.

Your main point is his improvement on the team he joined, relative to prior seasons.  Past performance of the team or player is irrelevant to MVP discussion

Are you sure it wasn't you that was underrating him? He was a top 10 WR talent in Minnesota and he's a top 10 WR talent here. He isn't doing anything here that he wasn't doing before.

Yeah that's pretty much the point of this exercise.

One begets the other....the classic Chicken and Egg conundrum.

No WR has won the Associated Press  NFL  MVP award.

Not Jerry Rice nor Randy Moss.

There have been 2 defensive players to win

and one special team player to win the MVP award.

Every other year it is a QB  or RB.

Why? Both could be candidates, which is all he is arguing for.

If Megatron couldn't crack the Top 5 in MVP voting in 2012 when he had 1964 receiving yards what chance does Diggs have? Marvin Harrison had 143 receptions and Randy Moss had 23 TDs.

Don Hutson was the last WR to win it,........... Back in 1942

It just doesn't happen and if it does Diggs is gonna have to do a lot better.

Wide Receivers never get serious consideration.

I don't think Jerry Rice ever received the NFL MVP either.

No Jerry Rice didn't.  QBs dominate MVP awards although many are not in Canton.

Non QBs/RBs:

  • The great Don Hutson is the only receiver to win outright the MVP Award (he was voted MVP twice in 1941 and 1942)  The position was called End then.
  • Alan Page, a defensive tackle was the AP MVP winner in 1971.
  • Lawrence Taylor,  a Linebacker for Giants in 1986.
