Cardiologist wouldn’t clear him This was the reason why the Big 10 was one of the first conferences to say they weren't playing when studies showed that 1/3 of college athletes developed that after COVID. They agreed to play after developing a plan where players had to wait for a minimum length of time before coming back AND be cleared by a cardiologist as well. 1
YoloinOhio Posted November 23, 2020 Author Posted November 23, 2020 Fortunate that they caught it. Glad that he’s expected back next year.
H2o Posted November 23, 2020 Posted November 23, 2020 As far as I have heard thus far, he and Ryquell Armstead of the Jaguars are the only two who haven't really bounced back from this like everyone else.
QLBillsFan Posted November 23, 2020 Posted November 23, 2020 Scary stuff. Hope the young man can bounce back.
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted November 23, 2020 Posted November 23, 2020 Poor guy. Hope he fully recovers soon.

They had to walk back that statement because the Doc was making a guess. Very few players are having issues https://www.si.com/college/2020/10/28/big-ten-covid-protocol-21-days-heart-screening 1
BullBuchanan Posted November 23, 2020 Posted November 23, 2020 Scary stuff. Apparently this is happening to 15%-19% of recovered athletes. I hope he's going to be ok long term. That pitcher for the Red Sox got it in a real bad way and was told by his doctors not to even walk around his house.https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7506347/https://www.diagnosticimaging.com/view/cardiac-mri-reveals-myocarditis-in-competitive-athletes-recovered-from-covid-19 1

Well, I guess TE Quest will have to take a pause on hoping for rescue It is a quiet aspect of the NFL's covid-19 protocol that players who test positive for covid-19 must undergo cardiac screening before returning to practice.
