Just a horrible play call. Defenders on the Jets even called out Williams for it.

Not just that - what DB bites on a 20 yd cut double move with 5 seconds left in the game when they have no timeouts? You KNOW he's going to the endzone, in what world would you bite on that move?

A rookie one.

Someone on one of the broadcasts basically mentioned that down the stretch even on the previous drive that the Jets were basically playing the same defense. Essentially giving the Raiders opportunity after opportunity to make the right play call and pass that could pull out the win. Of course the players will always play hard, but I wouldn't put it past someone like Greg to basically intentionally put his secondary in bad situations to try to ensure a loss.

Why would he want to lose?

Yeah, lets leave the fastest guy on the Raiders one on one with some nobody CB....if that's not "trying to lose", I don't know what is.

It's certainly very possible that management and ownership have made it very clear that at 0-11 they must land the first pick. In what ways they have made that clear to Greg and/or Gase who knows. You can't just go out there and completely lay an egg. Players won't do that. He's still calling plays. But it didn't seem like he was putting his players in good spots on the final TD possession or the one before it.

He certainly doesn't have much to gain by winning either.

Trying to win is his job. He has zero incentive to lose for a top pick as neither he nor Gase will be there next season.

The Jets are really just that bad.

But in the grand scheme of things is it a resume builder to have 1-15 on your resume instead of 0-16? Greg has a LONG resume. Winning or losing his 12th game in a 0-11 season wasn't going to change his resume and increase or decrease his chance for a coordinating or assistant gig next season.

The CB play was horrendous, you give him that move 20 yards down field and play the deep ball - chalk that up to a bad player, the Jets have lots of them.  Worse, where was the deep safety help?   How can you not have safeties deep on that down and distance?  Greggo sends 7 pass rushers right from the snap and then an 8th on top of that.

Greggo with another bad call?   He is a complete bum.  A total moron that showed no respect as usual.

It won’t, that’s true. But it’s a stretch for me that they would have stood up on 4th and goal the drive before just to lay down at the most obvious moment. I also don’t see Jets brass bribing the staff to throw games. Too conspiratorial.

In all likelihood Douglas realized the best bet for the #1 overall was keeping everything intact to the end of the season. Jets are just that bad.

Why would Gregg Williams intentionally tank? He's not going to be there next season even if they keep Gase for some reason. At most, he may have have figured, "***** it, and called such an aggressive play"

However, it shows that a heavy blitz on a hail mary is probably not the right call.

That was not a Hail Mary.  It was a deep ball to you your best receiver who was inexplicably left in single coverage against a marginal CB.

Except for the Bills. LOL. Anything but 3-5 guys in the end zone waiting for the receiver and ball.

This is probably true and as close of an answer as to "did the Jets intentionally throw the game"? No. But they certainly were far more aggressive and risk taking then an average 5-6 team would have been. Carr really should have connected on several passes for TD's the drive before as well. But his throws were off the mark. A couple because of the extra pressure but still he should have gotten a couple there.  Greg likely doesn't make the same play calls if they are not 0-11.

Owners I’m sure would like to tank. Shoot maybe even the coaches are fine with it since this might be the end for some of them. But the players? No way. The players are never going to buy into a tank. That corner who got burned today is playing the best he can to land a job next year and get paid. I can’t possibly believe any fringe roster kinda player is going to embrace possibly ruining their film and chance at a new deal

There hasn't been a tank this obvious since the Pens and Mario.   AFC East gonna have two guys who have won national championships and Josh......Pats to be determined.

His resume?

If this continues, he will add to his "resume" by being the defensive coordinator on two 0-16 teams, and there will have only been three.

Bountygate....By far the most obnoxious, blowhard individual to ever appear on "Hard Knocks," and a history of coaching cheap shot defenses that seem to delight in injuring people.

Some resume.
