Ethan in Cleveland Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 Great perspective. The defense as bad as it has been made a few critical stops. We all need to realize you can't stop modern NFL offenses. The Bills need to score 28 or 30 + points to win consistently. The offense was clutch and they made the plays necessary to win. Our kicker made pressure kicks. Lots to be happy with even while we are all deflated. For years I complained about bye weeks that came too early. Now we have a bye at just the right time. Get healthy and come back with the right mindset. They can easily go 4-2 or 5-1 the rest of the way. If they fold, and lose the division to Miami, Beane will have to answer why McD was extended so early and why no moves were made to help defense. I'm still hugely optimistic they win the division by 2 games.
NoHuddleKelly12 Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 Thanks OP, you’re absolutely right, and should help put the final outcome of the ridiculous final play into perspective. We have a monster at QB in the making before our eyes, and his supporting cast on O is growing along with him. If we can just plug enough of the holes in the defensive leaky dam, we will be a force to be reckoned with deep into this postseason.

On this single play, Diggs ran right by Peterson. Peterson didn't touch him. With <30 seconds left, allowing a #1 receiver a free dash to the end zone is joke coverage. Of course, this all works out to our benefit. I'm glad we got it done. Josh probably was shocked to see Diggs running free like that. 'running free' 1
BADOLBILZ Posted November 17, 2020 Posted November 17, 2020 Losman to Peerless for the game winning TD in Houston in 2006 was far more clutch..........that sh*t was crazy. Down 21-17 Jauron punted the ball with just 2:10 left. And somehow it worked because the Texans went 3 and out and punted and Losman brought them down the field and hurled a great pass to Peerless Price who made a diving TD grab with :09 left for the upset win. That was probably the height of Losman AND Jauron's careers in Buffalo. It's easy to forget that football has been played in Buffalo prior to now but there have been clutch plays and Bills games that ended in spectacular fashion prior to yesterday. It wasn't any big surprise that Josh lead the Bills to a go ahead TD with all that time and TO's left.......had they not gotten a TD on that play it had just been second down with a lot of time and a timeout in hand..........they were still going to get a pretty makable game tying field goal attempt. 1

And it's highly unlikely this team is going to be 11-4 heading into the final game against Miami. What is very likely is Miami will be 11-4 heading into that game (Yeah, or not). assuming they lose to the Chiefs, if they don't they will likely have the division clinched by the time we play them. (Yeah, or not.) This all could certainly happen. Or not. "Highly likely"? Nah, that's considerably over-stating it. More like, "they stand a solid chance to be a playoff team and if balls bounce right, maybe even compete for the division." Edited November 17, 2020 by Thurman#1

It was a 30 yard throw to the corner with plenty of cushion. Great throw, great catch, very clutch, but I didn't walk away thinking it was an "exclusive to Josh" throw. I know we're all drooling over the concept of a franchise QB, but the "OnLy He CaN do ThAt" takes are way overdone. That was a rope...over the underneath coverage...just beyond Peterson underneath the receiver but with velocity and placement so he had no chance. If you look at the angle he had to throw that and the placement combined with velocity...ya. it was pretty damn amazing. That ball takes longer to get there or is thrown a half second late its a pick for Peterson.

Bills may well be 10-5 or 11-4. We don't really know, and we especially don't really know what Miami is. "May well be," essentially means "could." And there's a wide range of possible outcomes that may well happen. 18 hours ago, TheElectricCompany said: We're not talking about Metcalf vs Peterson, that's irrelevant. Agreed, it doesn't get anymore crazy clutch than this. What a throw and catch! Losman did have a cannon ... That said, I'll raise you one because this was a fourth down play: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/201109180buf.htm. As for the Allen play, yes, it was a great throw, but it was first down and the Bills only needed a FG to tie the game. It wasn't do or die yet. In fact, that throw wasn't even the most clutch throw of the season. There were a couple of plays in that Rams game that surpassed it. Edited November 17, 2020 by dave mcbride 1

How is the clutch when your team's going to finish six and 10 at best. Clutch means something

It wasn't any surprise more because he has done it more than any other QB in the NFL since 2018 with the exception of Brees. And imagine if he hadn't gotten hurt in that Houston game and the Patriot game where Barkley had them knocking on the endzone in the 4th Q to take the lead. Does anyone believe that Allen wouldn't have won that game? Edited November 17, 2020 by matter2003 1

Clutch means something To put that season in perspective.......in the prior two weeks......they had beaten Brett Favre at home on a dramatic late game interception as the Pack were near the goal line ready to score....... and had somehow just lost by 1 point to Peyton Manning in Indy holding that score down to 17-16.......very edge of your seat finishes....and Bills fans were loving the direction of Jauron ball.......they reached 7-7.......a 9-7 Chiefs team made the playoffs that year.......but a heartbreaking 30-29 loss at home to Tennessee(***** Robert Royal) put them at 7-8 and basically put an end to the Jaurondimonium that was building. It wasn't a Super Bowl team but it was VERY similar in style to the 2017 Bills that you were probably amazed by.

I don't know if people clearly remember that season. The ball just always bounced our way. TD's on defense and special teams. Just everything went out way. Every Miami win has defensive TD's and huge special teams plays. Not sure that will continue. I'm anxious to see what happens when they have to win without those plays. We'll see. They're making the plays so they get the credit. They didn't have a defensive touchdown against the Chargers.
