They couldn’t swat it. Only hopkins, who is taller than all of them and has crazy long arms and a great vertical, could get at it. Amazin play. Hats off.

Why couldn’t tre swat it? He was in perfect position to knock it away. Stick one arm up and the ball bounces away and we win. It’s a very easy thing to do with the position he had.

They are a lot shorter than Hopkins. That's why. McDermott should of put Davis or Knox back there. Bad coaching.

Bigger bodies defending a Hail Mary help.  Maybe Edmunds as an option.  Seemed like Poyer did more harm than good as he knocked White? off the play.

I was saying Poyer was playing another man.. smartass so he was late to the play... watch again Ethan.

There should of been two players in front of Hopkins he’s the only one who can make that play. Or never let the guy off the line pull a Bill belichick put two guys on him at the line

It was over his hands. Did people not watch the play or not have an awareness of hopkins’ amazing wingspan?

That's gonna be a subject that will be brought up all week. Why did you not have a taller player back there like Edmunds or a TE. Oh wait we don't have any TE's. My bad.....

Stick both arms up in the air as high as you can.

Now stick one arm up in the air as high as you can.

which one was higher?

Look at the pic earlier in the thread. Sticking one arm up would have been higher and knocked the ball away. I’m not sure why you don’t understand this.

Wow I really didn’t no that does make it more terrible he sure plays like he’s 6-4. White wasn’t even close

Do some research on his wingspan. In sports that require leaping, your height is defined by wingspan. It’s why 6’10” hakeem olajuwon was taller than all of the seven footers he played against.

That’s exactly correct.  I think it gets knocked down if Poyer doesn’t come in late.

hes 6’1 - let’s not act like he’s a foot taller. To catch the ball on a 50 yard heave over guys just swatting shouldn’t happen unless they’ve missed the play somehow.

that many were running back towards the goal line on a play 45 yards out that late probably wasn’t ideal either.

I have no idea what your point is.

See above. Wingspan of a 6’8”-6’9” person. Measured height is really deceiving when it comes to leaping sports.

And he is two inches taller and had a 36” vertical to tre’s 32” vertical. Come on, folks. Accept that what happened was a great play by an elite player.

You’re acting like Hopkins is 6’10 and jumped 6’ over tre. My point is you’re wrong. Tre got both hands on the ball. He was right there with Hopkins. If he would have knocked it down instead of going for pick we win.  Go back and watch it again and look at the screen shots.

36” vertical to 32”. 6’1 to 5’11. Bigger wingspan. Strongest hands in the league. Do the math.

What does any of that matter when they both got their hands on the ball?

If tre knocks it away the strongest hands in the league don’t matter because the ball wouldn’t have got to them. Smh

and catching is a lot harder than swatting.

it was a great play by a great player. I think a great play by a great player likewise could’ve stopped it. I’m not saying cut them all or it’s the end of the world.

yea- in a pure jump off Hopkins can get his finger tip 6-7 inches higher. With one guy going for a catch of a ball heaved 50 yards while getting hit, grabbed and falling to the ground, and the other just trying to touch the ball... the defender should be at an advantage there still. He got outplayed by a great player there. Not shameful but won’t say there was no chance to stop it.

Using one hand gives you an extra 3-4 inches to get to the ball compared to 2 hands is what im guessing

Fair. That said, I remain in awe of how good Hopkins is. Might be the worst trade of the decade.
