In most cases, I go with the brand that the public calls the entire category.  For example, Vise Grips for locking pliers, and Channellocks for slip joint pliers.  Crescent wrenches (i.e., adjustable wrenches) are an exception.  Rastall adjustable and the Channellock Wide-azz small adjustable run circles around other brands.
