I think cover 0 is already used infrequently, because it is a very boom-or-bust coverage. Young and inexperienced QBs often have a hard time diagnosing and attacking it which is why Josh was seeing it a lot.

The Patriots ran a ton of cover zero in the 2019 Super Bowl against the Rams and also had a ton of success with it last regular season. It seemed to expose a flaw in a lot of the modern offensive concepts that are predominantly designed to beat zone coverage (you rarely see man coverage in the NFL).

This year offenses seem ready for it. Compare the Jets on Monday night against the Pats to their performance last year. Flacco torched them when they tried cover zero.

Cover zero really only works if you have elite CBs. Rex had success with it when he had Revis and Cromartie. When those guys left he got burned over the top.

True. Realistically a team with elite coverage defenders playing against a team with an inexperienced QB and/or deficient skill players can utilize cover 0 more often and with greater success.

With the Rams, you're also looking at an offense that is about running the ball and play action. Cover 0 works very well against that type of offense and McVay/Goff didn't have the answer.

Defences are slowly running out of ways to defend Allen. He’s still young and he doesn’t have all the answers yet but he will soon. Allen is the QB we have been waiting 2+ decades for.

Indeed.  Quarterbacking and defending against young quarterbacks is all about adjustments.  That's why it is a bit premature to get all excited about young quarterbacks like Tua.  There hasn't been an adjustment yet.  DCs will figure out what he does well and take that away...and then it will be up to the quarterback.  Some, like Baker Mayfield, don't seem to be able to make those adjustments.  Josh, however, has repeatedly shown that you may be able to frustrate him temporarily, but then HE will adjust and learn how to beat what DCs are doing.

Keeps learning from his mistakes and improving!  Almost like an AI enabled Cyborg!

This continues to be what I'm most impressed about.  Josh is the most self aware person in the NFL.  He's hard on himself but in a very positive way with positive results.

a 114 passer rating with 9 TDs and 1 INT against the blitz and a 9.0 YPA...that is impressive and better than his normal QB rating!

And the int wa when he made the correct read and made a great throw with anticipation.   Diggs went the wrong way.

Very true.  I'm a big baseball fan and I always shake my head when a rookie comes out, does real well at the plate, until the league starts collecting tape and stats on this hitter and pitchers start making adjustments.  99% of the time all of their stats drop like a rock.

Wonder if “Omaha” has ever been used? 🤔

Josh does too. Heard it this week.

As long as he doesn't start calling "Golden Shower" he can use whatever he wants.

How about "Golden Snitch" this week, in honor of Jordan Phillips? 😂

(no disrespect to Big9797 intended, it's expected former teammates dish on the tendencies of their former team - why Quinton Jefferson and Heath Farwell got game balls)
